This board is littered with an ever increasing dislike of Rowett. I don’t think I can recall a manager of stoke being knocked so early into their tenure?
I’m for giving him time but recent press conferences have me concerned about his professionalism🤔. I think he’ll turn it round and this board can be a little fickle to say the least😬

It's hard to be patient seeing as we're almost 20% of the way into the new season (!) and we don't even look like playoff contenders let alone a team that, under the right guidance, would be challenging for the title. It's still early days but when you look at the amount of the season that has elapsed as a % then it's scary. By Sunday we will have played more than 20% of our league matches. We should be doing better than we are and, even though there's time to turn this mess of a season around completely, everything I've seen so far suggest it's not going to happen. In which case scrutiny must be directed both towards the manager, but also once again towards the board who look to have yet again made a terrible decision for the umpteenth time in just a few miserable seasons.

I hated Pulis but He did ok untill he didn't. I hated Hughes but he did ok until he didn't . I quite like Rowett but its been a bit shit until ?

As ever, results are what matter at the end of the day and this early disaffection will melt away if he gets us up into the top 6 come May. Football fans are fickle that way.

I do wonder if some posters on here have ever managed in any capacity at anytime.
He cannot fix the downward spiral in 67 or 10 games. He needs to try things and he needs to work out who can play how he wants as well as he wants
This is not achievable overnight, it proves spending money isn't always the answer bit giving people time to settle, suss out players, systems and tacticsis a good start.
I cringe at some of the ill thought out crap spouted on here at times, long may he continue and ram it all down some people's throats.
Supporting Stoke, a real rollercoaster ride, shut up and enjoy it!

I smile when I read all the insults and calls for the manager to be sacked. I started following Stoke in the mid 60s and after the brief honeymoon period of achieving promotion by 1966 there were constant calls for Waddington to be sacked. Team selections were highly criticised as was the style of play. The sale of Ritchie nearly sparked a riot. The constant purchase of players, who were past their best lead to a tirade of criticism. If message boards had been around then we can only guess how abusive posters would have been under the cloak of anonymity.
Then in the 70s Waddington managed the club through arguably its longest sustained period of success in its history. The point being, give the man chance to sort out the mess.

I think some want it to be true aswell, not because of results but because he doesn't play pretty football If pulisball is a means to an end (i.e. promotion), many will forgive its more prosaic nature, although most would prefer a bit more panache with their points. |

But... but.
Initially he came across as a chap who'd been given free reign of the cookie jar.
When he put his hand in and realised he'd only got a couple of Nice biscuits, a soft shortbread and a few pink wafers,
all he did was add a couple of ginger nuts.
And still has no idea of how to put them on a plate to make them look in anyway appealing.
And has gone into a bit of a sulk.
Crumbs.
I'm still not all out OUT, that'd be daft.
He delivered {possibly} the worst and best Stoke performances in one heady week Wigan and Hull.
I fear he has no identity to stamp on the squad and ultimately it all depends on how the players feel on the day, not what he does.
And it looks like he's lost them nah.
Entertaining though.

Just think how different things could have been if Chester had been brought in before the Villa takeover? Rowett obviously wanted another CB in either Chester or Curtis Davies but was served up with a loan deal for Williams as they say it's small margins in football!

Problem is NO manager we have with the current squad would be turning anything at this club around at the moment. Is Rowett supposed to magically make Shawcross 5 years younger, give BMI speed, magically turn Joe Allen into a good holding mid who can pass, make Peiters not crap for the past 3 years, give Diouf some touch on the ball?
He has to manage and coach the players he has an simply put the current lot is woefully short in a few key areas.

I lost patience with him a long time ago.
We have no divine right to get promoted out of this league, but it isn't unrealistic to expect us to be positive in our approach in attempting to bounce straight back.
We retained some key players from last season (Butland, Allen, Indi, Crouch, Pieters etc) and also spent a significant amount of money on the likes of Ince, McClean, Etebo, Woods and Afobe. Plus a couple of experienced heads on loan in the form of Williams and Martina.
Everyone knows we're far from perfect and that there are areas that need addressing, but we shouldn't be going into games with a negative set up. We've got too much experience and quality in the squad for that.
We're no longer playing the likes of Spurs, Man City and Chelsea. We're up against the likes of Rotherham, Ipswich and Reading.
There are good teams in this league of course, but we should consider ourselves one of those teams too.
If we were having a proper good go at teams and faltering, I'd still be disappointed but I could appreciate what we were trying to do a bit more. To go into each game with a negative set up and what appears to be a mindset of "trying not to lose", that just isn't good enough for me.
We should be starting with a number 10 giving support to the centre forward in pretty much every game we play at this level. It isn't good enough to go 2 or 3 goals behind and then throw the attacking players on from the bench in a mad panic trying to rescue something from the game. Even if that penalty had gone in on Saturday it wouldn't have papered over the cracks. Rowett is just too negative and the job looks completely beyond him. All his previous jobs have been at clubs in a mess which have needed saving from the abyss. This is his first job with actual expectation and he's showing himself to be completely out of his depth.
And don't get me started on some of the things he says in public. He might offer the occasional soundbyte of accepting responsibility, but it's normally amongst a barrage of criticism aimed at his players or those above him. After the Preston game his comments pretty much amounted to "I'm trying to get these useless bastards to play football but they're just not doing it, so I'm forced to bring Crouch on and lump it long." Some of the stuff he comes out with is unbelievable and are the kind of things that should be strictly kept behind closed doors. It will just cause irreplable damage and it will all be of his own doing.
What we're seeing on match day is a direct reflection of what he's drilling in to them on the training ground, and it just isn't good enough.
It might seem ridiculously early to suggest, but I wouldn't bat an eyelid if he left tomorrow. I'd even suggest we'd be better off for doing so.
There must be other managers out there that could do a lot more with the resources at their disposal? Just a little bit more positivity would be a start.
