3G is seriously wank - I find those little pellets absolutely everyhwere all the time. Those little chips are made of recycled tires (sorry, tyres). There have been linked to cancer in soccer (sorry football) players especially goalkeepers because they are more often exposed to the chips than other players. There was a cluster of lymphoma cases in women players last year in the Seattle area (I think) attributed to 3G turf. I have not kept up with the latest information on this subject but it is cause for concern especially for kids.

That's insane, I keep a rolling pile of them in my waste bin and only empty it when it gets full of them. I'm always going to ground when I fill in as keeper or in general, scratches the shit out of my elbows. thanks for the info!

But what options do they have in countries with winter and snow for 4-5 months? Stop entering European cups, and only play in the summer?

No thanks. Players are far more likely to do a cruciate on 3G as well.

I’d stop going if we played on that shit. Football belongs on grass end of. what percentage would it have to be to constitute being artificial ?? fact is most of the premier league grounds have an artificial heart to them, it has a lot to do with why we don't see the mud baths anymore

I’ve watched kids matches on 4g and it’s crap. My lads only 14 and said there’s a massive difference and favours them who play on it all the time. In my eyes football should be played on grass at all levels, but everyone to there own.👍

The modified Premier League pitches don’t have that in them.

The modified Premier League pitches don’t have that in them. No but they're something like 80% sand. Which is why they have to water them all the time to stop them drying out and going hard.

I play on it all the time, its alright for 5 a side but full matches leave you with holes in your feet and nasty scabs all over your knees.
And the rubber gets literally everywhere...

Thanks. You must be a lawyer or politician because not being wrong is not the same as being right! Anyway, it is worrying and the fact that that the incidence of lymphoma is higher in GKs lends credence to the theory that rolling around in the crumbs increases exposure to carcinogens in the rubber. Those compounds are very fat soluble, which means they are easily absorbed into the blood stream through the skin and the lungs. They don’t have to get in by swallowing or via open wounds.
