How long were you expecting this 16 year old oven to last without any issues? If I get 16 years use out of my current cooker without any issues I'll be over the moon. I thought you did not believe it did 16 years, rather than being unhappy about how long it lasted. The original comment was tongue in cheek. Right got ya now. I thought you were being serious when you said "only 16 years"

The heating element went on ours on Xmas Eve morning and had the folks and a couple of friends over for Xmas lunch. Part located and fetched, fitted and working again with no prior Oven repair knowledge just in the nick of time. One of my finer moments, that.
Good old Youtube.

Terry fixed the oven this afternoon, top block! And the problem was? I'll have a speculative 5p on the element.

Terry fixed the oven this afternoon, top block! And the problem was? I'll have a speculative 5p on the element. One of the two elements for the fan oven had gone which we think was potentially caused by damp. I've recently started to put things back in the oven before they have been dried properly and apparently the silica in the elements can absorb moisture and cause a short circuit.

Don't even think about making a quiche then or the whole street will be blacked out.

Are you still drying your undercrackers in the oven Richie 😊

Oh in other predictable news, my gay dog tried his best (and failed) to seduce Terry.
