Butland 6 Looked a bit more composed than last time out, I know it was a difficult one but he might've been able to anticipate Ryan and BMI not being able to keep up for the first and sort his angles out a bit better.
Martina 7.5 Decent today, good going forward, Ok defending
Shawcross 5 Watching that first goal I can't believe hes the same man as played under Pulis... Indi 5 His lack of pace is crippling, was OK apart from the first goal Pieters ? Bit annonymous really I thought I genuinely can't remember him having a touch.
Woods 7.5 Very Good today, Good pass on him, calm, composed, good dribbling and vision - Far from the finished product and there were a few mistakes today. Etebo 7 Good vision started very brightly and faded - again had a couple of mistakes in him today. Allen 4 Worst player on the pitch for me, unfortunately. His actions cost us and I have long defended him. Needs a skills audit and carefully coaching into a very definite caged role. (Not that GR is up to any sort of coaching...)
Ince 8 Very very bright today, good on the wing and looked dangerous when he cut inside, committed 2 or 3 defenders at all times - pants corners and shooting was off but a good showing first game back from injury.
Afobe 8.5 MOM Did his job very well - good runs, took his chances, actually shot. Very pleased, he faded at the end and shouldve been replaced by Berahino not Crouch.
Diouf 6 He gets a 6 for pure industry, committing defenders and being available for the ball in attacking area and it can't be ignored he got an assist in too. The negatives? What a frustrating individual he is... headless fucking chicken sometimes, another one that cost us today with woeful finishing.
Bobo 6 Looked sharp - shouldve been on for Etebo, needs to drive at the defenders in this league and shoot. Make them twist an ankle
Fletcher 4 It's not his fault, but he's scared of the ball and past being able to compete really - stupid stupid sub, waste of a spot on the bench.
Crouch 3 not his game today, no impact really.

Yeah, I think it's fair no? All the players you quoted did their jobs well yesterday, Ince I thought did his job particularly well but faded a little. Martina I thought made Ince's life easier but I wasn't convinced by anything they threw at him. Woods was very tidy and he's got a good eye for a pass, one bit Adam's passing, one bit N'zonzi, but his decision making was off once or twice, including getting tackled walking it out from the back and getting sucked in pressing players by himself (like he did in his first match for us - where they subsequently scored) Overall good performance though.

Fletcher 3 (please get rid, I'd much rather see Adam out there!) Why? Fletcher is useless, pointless, but he doesn'tr actually inflict damage. Adam will get himself sent off but not before a dodgy pass will lose us a goal and a couple of heavy tackles will hurt somebody. Get rid of both.

He offers nothing going forward and he is constantly losing the ball defensively. There was a reason why we got better defensively under Lambert as he realised Fletcher's legs had gone. Hughes played him for too long and when he finally decided to take him out of the team our confidence had gone. Why we didn't get rid in the summer is a riddle to me!

Seriously though, I've explained why I gave the scores I did, I think Afobe did his job better than Woods did his job. Both were good.

I wouldn't wish that on you mate By the looks of this thread I am not alone in thinking Wood was absolutely outstanding though

I think woods deserves at least a 9
It takes real mental strength to show confidence in your team mates, on match day , when they are all so obviously lacking it
It is one thing to come in and play well and show confidence in your team mates , at a club doing well .It's another thing to do it at a club riddled with indecision and lacking bottle and confidence ( like stoke )
He had all the confidence and authority of a real seasoned pro , bought into be a leader. Despite the fact that isn't really what he is
Very impressive .
