however they're being deducted a min of 12 points and you can still get 5/2 on them going down

You'd still fancy them both to overturn the 12 point loss and overtake us

Typical Stoke - when the fashion for financial mismanagement is at its height we carry on with a ridiculous policy of sustainability. If only we could see the light we too could enjoy the challenge of a twelve point deficit and the unbridled joy of potential bankruptcy.
What the hell are the board playing at?
The revolution starts now....
What do we want? Reckless financial management! When do we want it? Now or by the end of the next financial quarter at the very latest!

I know that was tongue in cheek but I'm not sure we are being particularly cautious ourselves right now. We have a goal of sustainability goal but we must be as far from it this season as is humanly possible. Just very crudely our media rights revenue (75% of our income) has nearly halved from £100m to £55m at the same time our transfer spend in the summer was £50m which was double our sales and with many more in coming players than out going ones even allowing for some players taking a wage cut I would imagine our wage bill is roughly where it was if not higher. On that basis I bet our owners are hemorrhaging money at a terrifying rate. Hence the imperative to come straight back up which tragically at the moment isn't happening!

Bournemouth survived one and haven't looked back since- it was League 2 with just two relegation places though.

I'm sure they will finish well above us regardless but a 12 point deduction might demoralise them.

I get we need to get back as soon as possible and that this will need some investment. However there are quite a few posters who seem to believe this should be done at all costs - and by that I mean risking the clubs ability to stay in business. Personally I think the club have got it about right - what really matters now is getting the best out of what we've got, Bolton and Birmingham are perfect examples of what can wrong if a club doesn't recognise the financial realities of their situation. There but for the grace of god....

Have a soft spot for Bolton and Owen Coyle for their part in that day. Not only was the day surreal but so was looking over at half time to see their end had virtually emptied. I am sure those that stayed have been with them since and will be there if they go in to administration. It is them that I feel for

He did send me a text when the 5th went in "and with that we're out of here"

Ok... The owners are rich because they know how to run a business. They are trying to run the club like a sustainable business - which means the business needs to be viable on its own terms and not dependent on being bankrolled by another concern. The owners have been generous - but not to the extent that the club becomes a waste disposal unit for ready cash. Anything can happen - the idea that the club won't go bust come what may is either niaive or reckless. You sound like a Blackburn fan in the Jack Warner era. Shit happens.

Talking of naive do you honestly Believe billionaire owners would allow a company they control and whiz owes them tens of millions if it more with a enterprise value of probably the same go bust and lose all but a few quid in the pound . More chance of Tony Scholes becoming. Competent and Gary rowett creating a team structure
