Last season was exceptional in that all three promoted clubs stayed up, Newcastle, Brighton, and Huddersfield. The reason I believe was excellent teamwork resulting in great synergy. Burnley were another team who performed better than their squad strength would suggest, resulting in them comfortably exceeding expectations. I for one expected the Burnley bubble to burst and it didn't, as was the case with Leicester a few years ago when they were Champions. Teamwork will win points, but if you don't have true talent in side then results can turn against you if the teamwork starts breaking down. A club needs to have some exceptionally talented players to survive in the Prem. The Burnley team are essentially a year older and have added little strength. If Dyche can't keep the passion going, then they will slip down the table. The same is true at Newcastle, Brighton, and Huddersfield. Fortunately for them I believe two of the promoted clubs, Cardiff and Fulham, are not as good as they were when they were promoted a year ago. Therefore we might return to the usual formula of 1 or 2 promoted sides going straight back down, coupled with 1 or 2 the sides that narrowly avoided relegation the previous season, which would be Huddersfield or Southampton. Fulham will be fine.

It’s SJW who is the lucky charm. When SJW joined us we started to climb, when he left us we struggled , when he joined Burnley they climbed the table and as soon as he left they have hit the wall. Let’s see if the luck of the Irish goes with him to Ipswich. Could be worth a small BET365 investment on the tractor boys

Rashford has some stones on him squaring up to Bards. A red card and an early shower means he was probably the luckiest man at Turf Moor.

They were lucky at times last season, but they worked hard for it. They'll be fine and I hope they are, but why would we want dyche - there was a reason why we got rid of TP.

It would have been good to see Bards drop the cnut! Bardsley was too busy trying (and succeeding) to get Rashford sent off. Embarrassing from a so-called "hard man".

So Burnleys recent success is all down to luck? To think ten years ago some of us would break out into a fit of mardarsery if we were considered to be disrespected by someone.

Eliminated from Europa League before reaching group stages 1 point from 4 games in PL Gash team which was riding on it's luck However Dyche's luck seems to be running out and to me look odds on for relegation How many other managers have got the same club back up into the Prem twice ? A great achievement in itself with a little club like Burnley.

Not down to luck at all - Dyche is a good manager. However, they did have some luck last season - plenty of last minute goals going in which do need to drop for you and the failure of teams below them to do anything - didn't they go on a run of 10 games without a win and dropped 1 place?

Yeah, that's gone well hasn't it ? Yes it did. We had our 3 best finishes ever in the premier league in the 3 seasons after he left.

Burnley's problem is that they still see themselves as a plucky championship club defying the odds.
They should have beaten what is a relatively weak Olympiacos. They were England's 7th best team after all, they didn't qualify through fair play or whatever
They didn't sign quality this summer, again they think they aren't able to despite having the same tv money as everyone else

He’s a great manager and should lead them to a decent finish at the end of 2018/19. Can’t slag him off so early in the season! I’d never do that about any manager! Wait...

I live about 300 yards from Sean Dyche, he was in my local a few weeks ago (the Wooden Walls of Old England, Collingtree Northampton), and would love him to be our next manager - I would be seeking lifts to and from the game and giving him some tactical advice on the way of course. Deepest voice in the Prem.

Voicewise, he's the Prem's Tone Loc

Pulis rented a place on Wychwood (or the club did) where he stayed over during the week. Main residence is near Dodgy 'arry on Sandbanks. Hughes lives in Alderley Edge.

It’s far easier to take a mid to lower Championship club and get them into Europe than take a non top 7 Premier League club and keep them there. There are managers who’ve done the former and it looks like an incredible achievement but fewer clubs have done the latter.

I don't think we are in any position to take the piss out of Dyche, to be honest. He was the fans favorite to take over from Hughes, except for one small problem: Burnley was riding the crest of a wave at the time and Stoke was circling the drain.

What exactly is luck? Didn’t Alan Ball say “I don’t believe in luck, but I know you need some”. The best quote I know on the subject of luck is from Arnold Palmer after he holed out to beat Tony Jackling in the Open: “It’s funny the more I practice the luckier I get”. I prefer: “there’s no such thing as luck”.
