When Sam is fit he will be asked to play lb, dm, cm, and lw all at the same time. We do need a lb.

Is josh tymon really any worse? When lambert was in charge he was asked to go on loan as he would be seeing plenty of game time for us this season. What’s happened to the lad

It's been a series of abject performances for most of the last 18 months but even against such a background Pieters has been the worst player overall and yet we pulled back on spending around £1 million on Knudsen despite wasting £5 million on McClean!

We certainly need to replace Pieters soon as he has been shit for at least one and a half season now!

Would Cuco play there?
Awful from Williams v Wigan, but that was an utter capitulation from practically everyone. Ultimately, Williams + BMI as CBs (am sure Souttar will get a go this season, if/once we are a bit steadier). Cuco or Tymon as LB.
(Nobody has mentioned Etobo as LAM btw too - his "second" position and when he joined, speculation was high this was a motive for buying him)
Boy its a dogs dinner though.

If not sooner.
Is it not the case that Knudsen was (ironically) seen as back-up to Eckker and then the opportunity to sign the "ever so versatile" Clucas cropped up and LB was one of the positions on his CV, so bingo ... why sign a back-up?
That 'logic' of course conveniently ignores the fact that we didn't need to back-up Eric, we needed to replace him, no matter how good (lucky?) his strike was at Deepdale.
And then we ran out of loan spots ...
So basically, unless he has other plans for Sam, I think we'll be seeing him at LB very soon.
Not that we shouldn't be tracking a very good specialist one now for January but hey, that would take a bit of foresight and planning.
And yes, what has happened to Tymon ?

When we get relegated again and find out what the fuss was all about.

We don’t need one, Pieters is a decent player and will be fine there.
We need to sort out the midfield and defence as a unit, Shawcross is just as much to blame as Pieters at present along with the rest of the defence and midfield but we can’t replace the entire team in one window. It’s a much of a mental problem as anything else, get a win or two and things will soon turn around.

What’s happened to the lad I would say Pieters is light years ahead of Tymon. He has 170 odd Prem games under his belt and 20 caps for Holland. Josh Tymon is heading for a League 2 club if he's lucky. Pieters has made some mistakes and we certainly need someone to challenge him and likely replace him but I don't think Josh Tymon's the man.

Pieters has needed replacing for at least two seasons, he is very limited, clumsy in the tackle, has suspect positional awareness and seems to have off the field interests that may well interfere with his day job, get rid for me and bring somebody in who has a future in the game.

Martina hasn't played one game at centre-half since his days in Holland. And before the injury crisis at Everton last Autumn, he'd never played at left-back either.
I think his versatility has been overplayed massively. He's basically a right-back who's been brought in to replace Bauer, isn't he?
And his signing means we probably now won't see a left-back, or the 'answer' if Pieters continues to shit the bed will be playing the right-footed Martina out there.
It's just hard to work out the thought process and the forcefield that seems to surround Pieters.

Tymon really is a ‘glowing’ example of our club’s ability to bring a player on isn’t he. Signed as a lad with PL league experience already under his belt - we’ve turned him into someone who now can’t even be trusted anywhere near a Championship game.

Becasue he'll look at his other options, in a Pieters-less world, and see there aren't any, but he will see options on the other side - which proves the point... It'll be interesting to see how this whole Bauer thing plays out too.

Williams and Bruno will not work.
Neither are good enough in the air against really tall opponents who seem to be in every Championship side particularly at set pieces.
Doesn't help when Williams seems incapable of jumping.

This is because he is not good enough yet and may never be! Was doing very well at Hull - hence we wanted him - then he stopped doing very well. It’s a fairly well worn path - Telford and that other lad from Blackpool, Sweeney - countless youngsters from abroad.
