Young supporter: "Oh my god, the club's in crisis!" Older supporter: "Pfft, bitch please, come back to me when we've appointed Brian Little with zero budget". He was an exciting appointment at the time though..

Some good stuff on this thread, particularly from those pointing out how times have changed. I miss Bryan Small and Chris Short just as much as the next fan but that was because I was 14 years old at the time and didn't know any better. Simpler times but also simpler minds. Football was better before the internet but we have it now so let's not pretend we can ignore all the shit and just go match-to-match, however good an idea that sounds. That's a mighty bold statement there Pricey. PRICEY! If it wasn't for the Oatcake, and then the internet Oatcake, we'd still be strangers in the same land. And that saddens me. Think of all the other things that the Internet Oatcake has enabled, from trips to All Tomorrows Parties... etc. Got naff all to do with football though has it? We just happen to both support Stoke. Now I'm pretending to be interested in whether Moritz Bauer had a hissy fit on a Thursday night. I could have found out about that in a newspaper or fanzine and saved myself literally minutes.

I think I'd take Ray Wallace or Richard Forsyth over Darren Fletcher tbh.
And I'd put Tom Ince on the left and put Gerry McMahon on the right.

Couldn't control a bag of cement that bloke.

FWIW I am genuinely hoping that all hell breaks loose behind the scenes at Stoke City Football Club. In other news, have you heard those three Julee Cruise demos, Floating, Falling and The World Spins? Enough to reduce a grown man to tears they're that beautiful. In fact, The Mighty Mighty Potters should walk out to Falling. It would be amazing.

... these must seem like unfamiliar and scary times. We're staring down the barrel of Division 3, there's fan unrest, high managerial turnover, dissatisfaction with the Board etc. etc. For seasoned Stoke supporters, this is like finding an old, comfortable pair of slippers in the back of the cupboard and slipping back into them. I'm actually experiencing a tinge of nostalgia for the crises of yore. At this rate we'll soon need to set up a fanzine to voice the dissatisfaction of the ordinary supporter in a humorous and subversive way. I’m sure I still got my Macari commando hat somewhere do you want it

Windowlicker would work well as walk out music for multiple reasons, especially at the moment. Mental bit kicking in just after the handshakes. *thread deleted*

My two kids aged 11 and 14 years have only ever known the good times. One commented on the way to the game on Wednesday that he had only ever seen Stoke lose twice! We live 90 miles away so only attend 5/6 games per season. Like them, I was shocked by what happened against Wigan, but unlike them, I have seen much worse. I am interested to see how they react in the months ahead. My eldest lad was singing alone in an empty stadium and the end of the game and the youngest declared undying loyalty to Stoke before we got home at midnight. One positive about Wigan was we got away from the ground quicker than we have ever done for a Prem game. The championship certainly has its advantages and now we can get 3/4 tickets together because a few thousand glory hunters have already deserted us. When we were crap, you knew why. With our current shit shower, I have no idea why and I’m concerned we are in free fall with a very nasty landing ahead.

Nostalgia ! Yeah, can`t wait for the return of `We`re shit and we know we are` and `We`re not bothered any more`. Those were the days my friend, we thought they`d never end. We'd sing and dance For ever and a day.

I’ve found myself singing that old Simon & Garfunkel line ‘Welcome darkness my old friend’ over and over in my head a lot in the last couple of weeks. Rather than seek help I’ve decided it’s entirely football related 🙂 Hello darkness my old friend... We’re playing f***ing sh***t again...

I'm a young supporter and we shouldn't just accept this, especially when there is no need for us to fuck up so badly

I left with 10 mins to go when the red card came out. I can not remember the last time I left before the final whistle.
I can remember numerous threads on here bemoaning early leavers in recent years, but have not seen one this week.
I am so fed up I am not going again till the next game against Hull

The next few weeks could well be reminder for us older fans, and a welcome to newer fans, to the Stoke City rollercoaster ride that can be the odd up followed by the inevitable fall that sometimes becomes a plummet. We’ve been there before and, no doubt, we’ll be here again. Just hold on tightly. I like "rollercoaster"; as a bloke who went to his first match in the 50s, there are lots of ups and downs and the most thrilling time for many is the start of the ride.
