Another few shillings for our warchest? Clarets improve Pato bid
BURNLEY have stepped up their chase of Scunthorpe United striker Martin Paterson with an improved offer. It was revealed last week that the Clarets made contact with Iron chairman Steve Wharton, with an initial offer believed to be in the region of £400,000.
Having had their first gambit turned down, Owen Coyle, however, has upped his bid, and is currently waiting for Scunthorpe's response.
Paterson, 21, moved to Glanford Park last summer from Stoke, for an initial, tribunal-set fee of £275,000, which has since risen by £60,000 based on appearances.
He hit 14 goals in a side relegated from the Championship, and Norwich boss Glenn Roeder was quoted in the region of £800/850,000 in Januarywww.pendletoday.co.uk/burnleyfc/Clarets-improve-Pato-bid.4122729.jp
