I was a huge fan of Paul Gallagher during the Boskamp season. He scored some wonderful goals that were probably the difference between a reasonable season and a relegation battle.
But after yesterday I’ve found he is completely dead to me now.
Are there any other examples of a former Stoke hero or at least respected player acting the twat against us after leaving to the extent that he totally blotted out any goodwill?
Ade twatting Hoefkens is possibly another example, though the way he left had already soured things a bit.

Finding Gallagher was still playing was a bigger shocker than finding he'd turned into a thug.
I remember Kav sending Bjarni up in the air when he returned with Cardiff which was disappointing because they were my two favourite players. It didn't really stop me liking Kav though.
Generally, once they've been a Stoke hero for me, they stay a Stoke hero. I can't find it in me to remotely dislike Arnie. I'll always cherish the memories of him in the red and white and wish he was still here.

Yeah it’s weird, I think Arnie acted the twat and will boo until I’m hacking up blood if we play West Ham any time soon but I can’t help but look back fondly on what he did while he was with us. Kav is a difficult one. There’s some revisionism now about him supposedly not wanting to go but at the time he was sounding off in the press about how Cardiff were better than us.

I'm not too sure it was revisionism over Kav. My uncle was working for the club at the time, and said Kav was in tears when he left. As for sounding off, my recollection was that it was just one quote. Maybe I twisted it in my own head, but at the time when he said Cardiff were more ambitious, I actually thought he'd done us a favour by humiliating the Stoke board. I was a bit miffed that Stoke supporters turned against him for it because I'm fairly sure they all agreed with him in reality. It just didn't go down well with it being a Cardiff player saying it.

Maybe by then he was just retaliating against comments from Stoke supporters, or more likely playing up to his new Welsh fans who'd have loved him for it. Frankly though, remembering Jimmy's first goal at Cardiff in the play off, Kav should have kept his legs shut rather than his gob. He must have felt crushed that night.

Yeah, definitely feasible that he was so stung by the reception he'd got earlier in the season and lashed out, would be understandable.

Ade twatting Hoefkens is possibly another example, though the way he left had already soured things a bit. He elbowed Allen. What else did he do that was so bad.

After the elbow he seemed to want to carry it on. He was jostling Allo and antagonising him during a break in play.

Watch the Crouch goal and focus on Gallagher, its one of the most pathetic attempts at a dive I've ever seen.

Pay back is a bitch. Joe will return the favour at home, but Joe will get sent off. Gallagher's sly assault on Joe was a sending off. He should be reported to the FA and heavily fined for that underhanded and deliberate assault. Gallagher was an important player for Stoke back in the day. He has lost all respect that i had for him. PNE missed him when he was subbed. A sending off would very probably have seen a different result from 2-2 to PNE 2-4 Stoke. Refers still hate us.

Not defending the elbow incident, but I was actually more put off by his posing about before the penalty, which I presume is some kind of trademark routine.
Thought it made him look like a ridiculously poor man's Ronaldo. A Ronaldo found next to a dented tin of tuna in the damaged goods trolley in Lidl.
