I know we haven't been playing well, but there are a few positives so far:
We have scored in every game. Picked up points despite not playing well. Scored from open play. Scored from a set piece. Getting slightly better each game. Rowett is prepared to change things if they are not working, both formations and personnel. Transfer window still open.
We have played 3 good established championship sides, hopefully things should get easier.

I doubt you'll get far with being positive on here...but full marks for trying to add some balance. The doomsayers are overstating the downsides - imo judgement should be reserved until after 6 games - after we've played WBA on sept 1st. By then I expect:- We will have won at least one and be mid table GR will have decided on his best formation and best 14 and after that... We will then go on a run of just one defeat in the next 15 to be comfortably in the play off positions by january and then watch the early pace setters suffer with their limited squads as injury and fatigue kick in during 2019, enabling us to gain an automatic promotion place. That may not happen, but it's far more likely than us becoming "the new sunderland"

where do you start! more that 41% possession which we had at preston against a very average side more than 3 shots on target as at preston more than 2 corners an actual plan to break a team down a midfield without fletcher and some mobility a defence which can mark, pick up the loose man and defend a cross theres a start

If we weren't improving I'd be worried; going off what Crouch said post-match it seems like the players have realised they need to step up to. Many people on here need to chill the fuck out.

We are, as I've said in a few threads, improving slowly with each game, but we are playing woefully poorly still.
Results wise we are unbeaten in two and have scored in both, however it's the style of play and the apparent lack of any plan or direction that is causing concern. We also haven't won yet and that needs to happen very quickly. Also our defence and midfield are just absolutely shocking.

Would you rather start strong and fade away when it matters like Leeds have done for many years or start slow, build momentum and finish with a wet sail? In the last promotion year I remember Stoke playing Sheffield Utd on a Friday night at home in Dec I think. It was an awful game and we lost 1-0 to a James Beatie goal. That day I was so down after watching that game. But hey we got better , put some good performances together and the rest is history. It’s still early and I think Rowett is a good manager who will galvanise the team and we will go up. if we don’t do it this season we will go up next. We have to be positive.

junctions 20 and 16, to watch this latest sorry, lame, excuse for a football team .
got better things to do.

Effort is definitely there, commitment isn't the issue. Tom Ince looks like he has some quality. Bojan looked good when he's played. Afobe has his first 2 goals for the club. Williams looks far better than i ever thought he was. We're picking up points despite not playing well. Performances are slowly improving. We were competitive yesterday for much of the second half, vs Brentford we had a decent 20 mins, vs Leeds there was nothing. Clucas will be back soon. Charlie Adam isn't playing. We know Crouch as a plan B is still an effective option. Berahino looked sharp yesterday.
Sort the midfield 2, stick a number 10 in and we're not looking too bad honestly!

fucking hell!
Positive thread hijacked by the same old people making the same old comments for the umpteenth time.
There's at least forty other threads full of people vying to outdo each other by spelling out the issues without any perspective. Why not leave this one alone ?

fair enough
I reckon me and my brother have done more than our fair share - let the locals have a go for a while,
we'll watch from distance
and if they are any good after Xmas, we might start by taking a few away games in

We have played 3 good established championship sides, hopefully things should get easier. There's a bit of defeatist slant to the above statement by stressing "hopefully". It sounds as if we were a newly promoted team up against the establishment! However I'll add one more to your list of positives. We are unbeaten in two games.

Outplayed in 3 games. Conceding goals for fun. Struggling score goals. And our signings look awful.

I'm positive we can only get better^
We're not last on MOTD and Lineaker doesn't slag us off at every opportunity.
I don't have to pay for sky sports anymore and my Saturday evenings are now free with no match highlights to watch.
We can now play accademy players and old men and still get a draw.
Oh yes nearly forgot Peter Coates can take more money to heaven with him.

Ince, Afobe and Williams look good signings.
Rowett is honest and straight talking. I like that.
We still have Clucas to come in.
It’s still early days.

Saido and Bojan have looked sharp. Despite my better judgement Crouch has been a positive, threatening at Leeds and scoring yesterday. Afobe has 2 in 3 even when we're shit. We've scored 4 in 3...even when we're shit. Williams a pleasant surprise. Ince looks capable of being a key player on the ball.

I’m not denying this last 18 months or so has been a chore but to drop your support after 10 years in the big league just doesn’t seem right to me. I feel the same. It's not directly to do with getting relegated, I pretty much decided I'd had enough long before that was confirmed. Not being good enough, I get that. It happens. But we were relegated because of arrogance and incompetence. I refuse to put any more money the club's way while that remains the case, which as we've seen recently, it does. Additionally I'm disillusioned with high level football altogether. I'm sick of how the money has taken over. The fans no longer matter. So, again, I won't put any of my money into it. Not directly at least. I've been a fan since 1982. I've done my time, the younger lot can have a crack at supporting Stoke through years of being in the wilderness getting thrashed by all and sundry. I'll observe from afar now, at least until we get some competence and integrity in the club. I have to say so far this season I'm not missing it one iota.

Tom Ince and Afobe are the positives for me, I do think as the season goes on they are going to be two very big players for us. I also think Jack will get his head down now he knows he's going nowhere and prove what a top keeper he is.

I have been able to stream every match so far, after worrying whether it would be possible all summer.
Also, Williams, Adobe, and Ince look like good additions to the squad. And we picked up two points from three despite looking like the weaker team in every game.
