Anyone else noticing this? I mean don't get me wrong we've conceded enough as it is in the past two years, but it seems to be a real trend and very bad mindset issue.
Last season we conceded within 10 minutes of scoring 8 times. 6 of these were 1 goal defeats or draws. We only won one of the games in which this happened (WBA at home, and only when we were leading) and then again at the weekend, we pulled ourselves back into the game only to throw it away 5 minutes later. For me this is just a sign of where we are mentally as a club right now, one step forward two steps back.

It does seem to happen far too often to be a coincidence - as you say it seems to be a mental problem. I have it in my mind that it has been a problem for a couple of seasons - but I haven't seen any stats to back up my theory.

There might be something in this, but given how many goals we concede, I suspect you could look at any event on the pitch and find we've conceded a goal within 10 minutes of it happening.
Everytime Diouf sneezes - within 10 minutes...BOOM!

I dread to think how often we've been conceding since this time last year. In fact, I can tell you. In the league last season it was about one every 52 minutes. I don't know why I ever thought we'd stay up.

Someone do a statistical analysis based on number of goals conceded, number of goals scored and their respective average times between goals and work out if there is indeed a correlation and this number is higher than what would be expected.
I can't be arsed.

You can see why it hasn't been much fun following the club in recent times can't you? On the rare occasions we do score more often than not you have the stuffing knocked out of you almost straight away. Following Stoke has become the football equivalent of getting captured behind enemy lines and getting "water-boarded" by the local henchmen, you are allowed up for a gasp of oxygen only to be plunged gasping and spluttering back in to the water On another note I don't believe we have scored more than 2 goals in a match this calendar year! So there have been no moments at all when you can simply kick back and enjoy a game safe in the knowledge we have the match won.

The same run of events happened at Coventry. We were absolutely wank all game and won a lucky penalty.
We scored from the spot, looked absolutely no different to when we kicked off the opposition in both Coventry and Leeds still were in complete control of the game and Leeds scored straight after. Its strange

We didn't concede that many right at the start and for a period with Lambert as manager so I imagine for the rest of the time it was closer to one every 20 or 30 minutes.

Given the number of players we've signed only to apparently stand still, I'm wondering whether it's time for a more sympathetic reappraisal of Lambert's time here. He really was handed the shittiest of sticks.

Not that Lambert and his staff don't deserve criticism for their apparent lack of knowledge about how to go about scoring goals.

I can't see hime ever getting another job in either of the top two divisions.

We've bought a new frontline but still don't look like scoring. Lambert had too much to fix in too short a time. It's probably not a popular viewpoint and I was pleased we moved on. I just think he maybe doesn't deserve too much criticism given the abject state we were and possibly still are in.

The only other victory was tainted by the threat it might keep Paul Lambert in a job.

Only scored three once all season, and the third goal was in the last minute after we'd somehow kept out the mighty West Brom when an equaliser for them was looking inevitable. So no in-match chilling going on there.

He really was handed the shittiest of sticks. Meh, he took it with both hands. He was turned down from the Hull job before us wasn't he? Speaks volumes about his level. There's no doubt he inherited an absolute shit show, but his inability to make the slightest impression on the squad was a mark of his quality or therein lack of. The executives made an absolute shocker appointing him in the first place.

I thought this last year as well, but not only for goals scored but also near misses or should’ve scored. Players have a pansy mental attitude and are as weak in the head as they are physically.
