I am starting to feel un comfatuble with all this Stoke are favourites nonsense
It’s not really in our DNA. In the past we have thrived on being underdogs. Now we will be the scalp that everybody else wants to take.
Leeds on Sunday is a massive test for us, and I am not feeling overconfident.

Just as I replied in another thread where someone else mentioned us thriving as underdogs. How many times do you ever get to see Stoke favourites to win a league or cup competition in recent times? Let's just fucking twat everyone in the league and act like favourites It's also part of the script that I have to insert the King Homer picture, so... BOW DOWN BEFORE STOKE CITY (again)

Lets just hope that for once that we can have a great season and steam roll our way back to the big time.

BOW DOWN BEFORE STOKE CITY (again) FOURTEEN KARAT GOLD! Has to be one of my favourite episodes. Seasons 3 - 8 are the golden years for sure, parts of 9 - 11 as well. Still think the episode where Homer turns Obese to work at home is a classic "I see Ctarl, Alt and PigUp, but I don't see the "Any" key."

I think we'll struggle to make the play offs

The reason so may feel uncomfortable with being tagged favourites is because it is unjustified. I honestly think we will struggle. Nothing has changed defensively and Rowett is trying his best to prove that he cannot field a team with any ability to score goals. We still do not have a leader on the pitch and if we go a goal down on Sunday I fear the worst.
Nothing like a bit of pre-season optimism eh?

That would be deemed as failure I reckon Hackster. Not saying it's not a possibility but you'd hope we'd have enough quality to at least be Top 6.

Personally favourite of mine has to be Bart vs Australia.

We have the quality on paper no doubt but there's no way we will score the amount of goals required to get promoted. You can't do it with an isolated striker, no pace on the wings and no support from midfield playing this ridiculous 433. Besides, the defence is always up for leaking a goal or 2 just at the worst time isn't it.

Huddersfield managed to get into the play-offs and promoted with a negative goal difference though. Just saying...

Well we're starting to make great signings now, so we can't possibly fail.
All we need now is Stuart Dallas to rock up and that guaranteed 6th place will turn into 1st overnight. No danger.
We're in line to make a profit if Butland goes too, so it's all gravy. Absolutely everyone is a winner and the CEO is in line to take the crown yet again.
Well, if we're doing it let's do it properly.

That's not how it works.

Huddersfield scored 56 goals in their promotion season. Stoke scored 69 in finishing second (and as second top scorers as well). This idea that you must score a ton of goals to get promoted from the Championship is one of those widely accepted Oatcake "facts" that has the slight problem of being complete nonsense. Another one is that Gary Rowett is some sort of binary manager who will always play defensive football. He's certainly a no-nonsense character and I'm sure he puts results way ahead of pretty football (which is exactly what we need). Yet last season, Derby had 5-0 and 4-1 wins and won 3-0 SIX times. I don't think I'd mind watching some boring football like that...
