We really look threadbare at CB. God help us if ryan or Bruno pick up an injury.

It's a useful exercise in highlighting how weak we look with a couple of injuries.
With Tymon playing and going in Afobe-less, we suddenly look much less of a potential promotion machine.
Still 2 weeks left though, and Rowett's not an idiot.
Would still be very surprised if we didn't see a central defender, reserve left-back, holding midfielder, back-up winger and striker come in.
(that is a lot when you write it out though!)
Maybe a couple will have to be loans

Really looks like Robert Huth is a no goer
Agree the absence of Badou raises some doubts as to him staying.
Afobe seemed to have a back injury and we know what they can be like!

So I guess the best we can hope for is:
Butland
Bauer Shawcross Martins Indi Tymon
Cameron Etebo Allen
Ince Diouf McClean

Josh tymon? I wouldn't even play him in a friendly. Stick cameron at right back and move Bauer over to the left.
That's what would happen if it was our first league fixture of the season tomorrow so we should set up accordingly.
Same with Fletcher. Quite why we are even giving him pre season games is beyond me

I think we will wait to see what we have got when the permanent transfer window shuts and then go for loans. As will the rest of the division of course.

That was kind of my point ... there's about as much depth to our squad as a kids paddling pool, we're going to be way off where we want to be, if it isn't addressed. Personally I want to see Bauer and Ince starting to develop a partnership, so the right hand side stays as it is for me.

Choupo staying would be a bonus, I know Pete Smith said he is defo off but there have been no offers (that we know of).

Oh joy, Pieters, Badou, Bojan, Adam and Afobe all injured with the season a week away, that's half an outfield team and we've not yet begun I forgot Affelay, he picked up a nasty injury against Walsall. Can't be long before, like the first cuckoo in spring, we have a thread asking whether the training methods are not right!

I don’t care what anyone says, this just shows we need 5/6 signings.
For tomorrow though I’d play this;
Butland
Bauer Shawcross Indi Tymon
Sorensen Allen Etebo
Ince Diouf McClean

We have a huge squad why risk players with a week to go when they can stay behind and get treatment

New signings Tom Ince and James McClean are the only natural senior wide players. It will have stung to have been emphatically out-bid by cash-strapped Derby County to sign Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson on loan.

Wilson's record with Hull was outstanding too, so that's a big miss.

Would have thought, from Liverpool's point of view, the only thing they were bothered about was getting him loads of minutes at a good level. So the suggestion of it coming down to being "emphatically outbid" is interesting, because we clearly aren't short of a bob or two, relatively.

Could Stoke afford to pay his wages? Of course they could. Could Stoke afford to pay Liverpool the loan fee they wanted? Of course they could.

There's one massive reason Wilson chose Derby over us.
Two words, begins with Frank and ends with Lampard.

It'll be interesting to see if he starts Berahino, in Afobe's absence.
Will maybe be a sign of how much he trusts him and if he's going to be a factor in the season

Or "the bid" included guarantees about pitch time for the player. More to do with manager if you ask me. Liverpool wouldn't give a shit who the manager is. From their point of view: will their player get game time, will the other club pay all his wages, will they pay the (£2m?) loan fee. That's it. Stoke could easily fit the last two, less so the first.
