I've learnt over the years to not take too much notice in what managers say in public, it's often a load of rubbish and full of diversion tactics.

Clive Clarke said the team had to carry him and that he wasn't good enough at half time. I really believe Clarke this time as it sounded exactly like that when I listened to the radio. I know it's not the same as watching the game, but ......

Fletcher and Cameron were by far the worst players - slow, gave the ball away and often out of position

Reading between the lines it seems he only played as Badou and Etebo have had no game time yet. I wouldn’t expect see fletcher anywhere near the 11 by the time we play Leeds. Hes the type of pro we need around the club though this season. His experience could be vital

Despite of this it looked like his legs had gone last season and from yesterday's showing nothing seemed changed at all.

I wasn't there last night so can't comment on his performance. However, I wouldn't listen too closely to a manager at this stage of the season re. performances because there will be an ulterior motive somewhere, either trying to big him up for confidence reasons or shop window reasons.

Totally agree regarding his legs etc. In a long hard season just having him in and around the club could be vital, players like him and crouch can keep players level headed

Everyone fit, Fletcher doesn't play, it's simple as that. However, with so many players who need to be offloaded, is he more use staying than someone like Adam for example? if only for his professionalism and presence around the club? that's what the manager will be thinking about I imagine.

He was alright for the first 5 minutes, kept possession well - for the next 85 minutes he proceeded to lose the ball almost every time he touched it.

Fletcher is a strange one, when he first signed I thought he was brilliant in his first few games and he was also getting a lot of praise on here.
Then it’s almost like his legs went overnight and he suddenly became a liability. Weirdly it was after his goal for us that he stopped performing.

Last night we needed that extra body in the box. Fletcher was not able to provide a goal threat at all. It seemed he spent the whole match trying to preserve himself, which is how us old gets play when we are up against youth.
I just felt we needed him off and put Bojan or Affy there to move the ball more positively, instead of the safe Fletcher option of sideways. Like others have said, the only reason he’s still around is his ‘top pro attitude’ and experience. Surely Rowett can see he’s very limited! Can he??

He gave the ball away every time he attempted a pass over 3 yards in the second half and was caught in possession quite a few times.
The Man U Fletcher is no longer there or anywhere near.

I felt like he was trying to press high up the pitch (Rowett instructions) however once wolves beat his press left a huge hole they just walked through as he couldn’t get back

Then Afobe was down by the McEwan's taking pictures towards the end of the second half and he say's - "Etebo is popular already" - That's Afobe mate. He's down Specsavers this morning anyway.

He should have been taken out the back yard with Pa's shotgun last season. Wank. The Baggies were saying before he signed that his legs had completely gone. Very disappointing if Rowett thinks he can reanimate the corpse of his career.

I don't want Fletcher in the team, but the reaction to his performance is way over the top. He was Ok , but did hold the play up too much, but I think that is how Rowett wants them to play. I was hoping we could go with Badou and Etobe, as long as we can discipline them that one stays while the other goes forward. They can both tackle and run with the ball. The problem was that Badou was making the runs from far too deep and just running into the defensive cover. Rowett doesn't have much time to sort this out. And no Cameron isn't the answer to the holding midfielder. It just seems as though Rowett is going down the same track as Lambert, we will never score enough goals to get promotion, he is way too cautious.

I've no problem keeping Crouch around, as he still offers something that nobody else can give.
I do have an issue with paying £2 million pounds to someone to keep them because they're good to have around the place. Football's mental isn't it?

The three times he got caught in possession to put wolves on the counter were very poor, as was his pass straight out of touch when under no pressure whatsoever. It was also only a half chance but when McClean put a cross into the box and Fletcher arrived onto it, he proceeded to only get off the ground by two centimetres because he was that knackered from the little burst sprint to get there! I know it’s his first game of the season, but it was just starting where he left off last season, and that’s legs gone and done.
