Afobe, Diouf, Crouch, Ngoy, Campbell and Berahino looks strong for the Championship. I don't think we'll have to pray Berahino turns good, but it would help.
I wouldn't be surprised if another striker signs. Remember there's the option of loans until the end of August. There are five games before then, so I'm sure there will be loan options lined up if no one else signs permanently.

For my money too much dead wood there
Relying on Berahino to 'turn good' is a massive mistake imho

He's,at best, fith choice striker. Hardly relying on him.

No it doesn't. It looks like one guy who is strong - and capable of 15-25 goals. Then, one guy who can't hit a barn door One capable of useful cameos from the bench One who didn't cut it in League 1 One who is far from proven in any professional league And one sad, desparate, emotionally-retarted loser who is only stopped from a descent to the Northern Premier league by an overly long contract and too much sentimentality from the club.
If we are to have any chance of promotion this season we need to bring in a striker capable of getting 15-20 goals to support Afobe. Whilst Afobe is a marked improvement on the dross we already have he is more of a target man and we cannot rely on him as our main goalscorer.

He's a proven goalscorer at this level. You might want two mind.

Will the drop down improve Diouf? For me he seems like a decent guy but a dreadful forward
We saw the worst of him last season
Dunno maybe he just needs a goal?
Yet he was still better than Bearahino and selected over him the majority of the season, little wonder we were relegated yet some still hang on to the hope Berahino will eventually come good you really couldn't make it up
I can't claim to even pretend to know what's going on. But considering he's drawing an astronomical wage, it'd be helpful if Bera decided get his arse in gear and show us something. Otherwise we're spending an astronomical wage on nothing.

Yes we do need another striker for a good chance of coming back up. Otherwise its all a bit risky in my opinion. We have lacked goals for years and it needs sorting.
Yes we need another striker. Diouf's confidence is absolutely shot and while I think he's a good Championship third choice I don't think we should be thinking of him as a regular starter we need a better finisher.
Crouch is a good plan B from the bench but he's terrible as a starter these days. He's so slow and cumbersome and really stunts our attacks when used from the start. He's only useful at the end of games against tired defenders who are prone to losing concentration in games where we're chasing a winner or equaliser and are bombing balls into the box.
Campbell looked really, really raw last season and even though he's obviously so young with a lot of development to go I didn't see any little flashes that said 'there's a good player in there'. His touch wasn't great and neither was his anticipation. He didn't have great pace and I didn't really see any intelligent runs or striker's instinct. Needs loaning out to League One, he's too much of a risk for us next season.
I've not seen enough of Ngoy to comment and Berahino is far too risky to consider as higher than third or fourth choice. He may come good from the bench and in training and play his way in but we need to look at that as a possible bonus it's too risky to consider as an option.
We need another proven striker who can score at this level and take advantage of our new found status as one of the top dogs because if we stay down longer than 2 years that status will evaporate and we'll melt away into the huge list of mediocre medium sized clubs that make up most of this division. If Afobe gets injured or flops I wouldn't fancy relying on any of that list.
I think Diouf is more likely to be the better option up front than Berahino. If Kevin Phillips can get him to shoot a bit better, he'd be a decent option alongside Afobe (although I'd still prefer someone else).
Diouf might be better in the championship If he can stop falling about like a bad fifa player
Are the goals bigger in the Championship?
Agree.
I love this law of physics defying delusion. He's the same player of course, but he is suddenly "better" for us dropping a league.
Reality is he might indeed net a few more, because defences will give him more chances, but the same can be said for all our players. We need our strikers to convert precious chances with reliability. That facet of Diouf won't get any better.
