The stand will be known as The Franklyn Stand for the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons."
The Franklyn Stand? Personally I think it should be the "Franklin Stand". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Franklin After the war, while the England selectors argued between themselves pushing their favourite players, there was one name that went on the England team sheet first for a then record number of consecutive times, Neil Franklin, Stoke City. My Dad said he was a tremendous player, as did many of his peers.

Mr Franklyn "Looking forward to working with you Tony" Scholes "Whilst I've got you here any chance of a 20 minute crash course?" A) Mr Franklyn: "... erm Tony, you seem to have somehow taken my watch by mistake" B) Mr Franklyn: "great doing business with you Tony. Most clubs were asking a fortune to sponsor a stand, but the fact you were prepared to take a week in my yacht in Monaco in lieu of payment is most generous." C) Mr Franklyn: ".... phew that was a tough one Tony. 12 years to get a name deal on a stand, I've got to say you are not the easiest to do business with."

My Dad said he was a tremendous player, as did many of his peers. After being told about the name change by a mate earlier I instantly thought we'd named it after Franklin; but ah well, it's extra pennies to the cause I suppose. I certainly was nowhere near around when Franklin played and my old man only just was but I remember reading this about him from a few years ago. Interesting read but the chap was extremely highly rated. www.independent.co.uk/news/people/obituaryneil-franklin-1318228.html
