linkWhatever you think of his music or personality, I think he was pretty shabbily treated.

He was treated horrendously. And the payout is quite measly really.

It wasn't the BBC's finest hour or Plod's for that matter.

He was treated horrendously. And the payout is quite measly really. They were saying yesterday that he's spent something like £5 million to pursue this case which by all accounts has ruined the end of his life and caused grief for the people that work for him and for his close friends. The BBC don't seem to understand any concept of this and have given a half heated apology of sorts and seem to think that putting a helicopter up might have been a mistake. They are now being comforted by the gutter press who are fully behind them and even this is not ringing any alarm bells. Maybe they're going into phone hacking next.

Looking at the press today there isn't much full out and out support for Cliff. There is some but it's far from unequivocal. There's nothing as stubborn as the media campaigning for the rights of the media. They feel they should be entitled to publish rumours as fact. The thing is Cliff Richard isn't a super popular figure. There's also been certain question marks surrounding his sexuality. These all made him a sitting duck for this sort of scrutiny.

What is perplexing is that the South Yorkshire Police we’re also ordered to pay compensation. His home was in Berkshire ffs. Or was the judge edging his bets that the SYP must have been involved somehow due to their previous investigations.

There is also the possibility that this man has never offended. That indeed would wake the papers up.

Or was the judge edging his bets that the SYP must have been involved somehow due to their previous investigations. SYP carried out the raid on the Berkshire house. The accusation was that he’d committed a crime at Sheff United’s Bramall Lane ground, so SYP were the investigating force

The news and the press will never admit they are wrong.
Freedom of speech only extends to them-not to us mere mortals.

The news and the press will never admit they are wrong. Freedom of speech only extends to them-not to us mere mortals. It's excruciating listening to the BBC defend this one. Good old Edwina Currie was putting the boot into them a few nights ago on one of the late night shows. The host even trying to defend the helicopter saying that it's shared with ITV and it's what they do in the States like the USA is a shining beacon for news coverage

If we were viewing this as a US of A story-we would be saying how bad it is.
But this is the BBC trying to deny it has done something bad.
You couldn't make it up.

Opening payment of £850,000 to Sir Cliff on top of the £400,000 paid by Plod with a further £315,000 paid by the BBC to Plod.
Didn't they do well apart from at the Scoop of the year awards.

Sir Cliff Richard privacy case: BBC will not go to Court of Appeal
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45183421
It's just said on the news that it's likely to cost the Corporation something like £2.3 million in the end
.Oliver Duff, editor of the i newspaper, said this ruling tipped the balance toward secrecy.
"Yes, it will help innocent people like Sir Cliff, but it will also hurt countless victims of crime and it will make it much harder to get convictions in some cases," he told the BBC.
"There can be a domino effect when news of an investigation breaks and other witnesses come forward."
Oliver seems to be happy to sacrifice anyone in the pursuit of a fishing expedition.

The BBC are galactically embarrassed that 'one of their own' was finally exposed as a kiddie fiddler but not by them, so they're going to make up for it by ruthlessly treating the infestation with Napalm not caring who gets scorched in the process whilst potificating with a holier than thou attitude about how great the BBC are. Why ANYBODY at the BBC is paid more than the Prime Minister out of public funds is disgusting.
