Starts next week in Finland. Live on Sky.
Need to get to the semis to qualify for the U20 World Cup again.
Looks like there've been mass withdrawals from the squad due to it clashing with pre-season and the clubs not being compelled to release their players. The likes of Foden, Sancho, Mount, Hudson-Odoi and loads more won't be featuring.
Forest have said Brereton is available - but it'll be interesting to see whether we've allowed Tom Edwards, Josh Tymon and Tyrese Campbell to feature.
Squad is announced on Monday, only a day before the tournament, apparently.
But it'll become clear if we've released our players when we see if they're featuring v Walsall?

It's a weird time to host it isn't it? Yeah, crazy. It'd be nice to see our lads feature, but we probably won't have released them? www.telegraph.co.uk/world-cup/2018/07/12/gareth-southgate-fa-can-nurture-next-generation-england-players/This month a new group of Under-19s will defend the European crown that England won last summer in that great sweep that included two World Cups at Under-17s and Under-20s level.
The best at that level - Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi (both Chelsea) have all been retained by their clubs for pre-season tours.
There have been around 20 withdrawals from the squad, which is generally uncommon given the FA’s new bond with the clubs. There is greater frustration directed at Uefa’s scheduling, with July more suited to the Under-17s

What is the point of having tournaments for every age? There is already a tournament for U17 and U20. Do they really need a U19 tournament too?

I think we'd be mad not to let them go tbh especially Campbell.
Edwards though will probably get a lot of game time this pre-season so I can see the logic there of not letting him go.

I was told this afternoon that Edwards has been called up and the club have blocked him from going.

Got it on, I've always rated Brereton - interesting to see how he does.
Games like this used to be on Eurosport, but I'm guessing since Sky haven't shown a live football match in a month - they were desperate.

Good start 1-0 Turkey - no commentators, feels weird.

Interestingly they seem to be going with the 'no commentary' approach.
Turkey winning 1-0 in first minute

Considering we struggle to produce players seems odd we let Brereton go looks decent for his age.

England need a draw to get to the semis and qualify for next summer's U20 World Cup Having watched the first 2 games, not sure they'll do it.
