I'd say this route is easier than say, Brazil (R16), Argentina (QF), Portugal (SF), Spain(F). Wouldn't you? The only team I fear from that is Spain But it’s not about fear. Do you seriously think it would be more difficult to win against Colombia, Switzerland, Croatia to get to the final than those teams above?

That's uncharacteristically cautious for you mate.😁😁 I’m trying to remain grounded mate it’s so hard when you know it’s coming home though Joking apart Tuesday is a huge game, Colombia have pace to hurt us, I can see a 3-2 England win tho 25-1 at Bill Hill. 22-1 at Corals

If your expecting Colombia Swiss Croatia etc to lie down for us your mistaken. Croatia have looked the best team upto yet

Croatia have looked the best team upto yet Nobody expects them to lie down, but clearly they have less talent than some of the favorites. Obviously an upset can happen, but that is exactly why it is called an upset- the other team was expected to win but didn’t. Put it another way, who’d you prefer Stoke to play in an FA Cup quarter-final; Manchester United away or Blythe Spartans at home? Oh, hold on, let’s use a different example.....

With Colombia at 25-1 outsiders and Brazil at 4-1 Favorites, it seems everyone except you get the concept that some teams are inherently better (and hence more difficult to beat) than others.

We are forgetting a few things here. England are Sh^te, the manager is Sh^te and we are incapable of winning a knockout game and to win the thing we will have to win 4 more games.
I have seen shite teams win tournaments before, Greece, Denmark and Portugal so you never know. We will be outsiders to beat Colombia and Spain or Croatia, but if we can get past Colombia, we would probably be favourites to beat Sweeden/Swiss.
I cant ever remember England getting the favourable side of the draw though, this is a new thing and a little ironic when we have such a crap team.

I think how we match up against Colombia will tell us everything. This young team has done what most England teams before them have failed to do. Beat Columbia in similar fashion to how we beat the so called winnable games in our group, then you cannot help but start believing for the first tim, well, at least in my life time that we are in with a shout of winning it.

Today has just highlighted what I previously said. There are no easy games. This World Cup is wide open. Spain would have been counting there chickens all the way to the semis. We have to make sure we’re on top of our game aswell. Come on England....

Watch this space. There will never be a better opportunity I think there may well be particularly when the trophy winning young lions mature into men. Having said that all the teams left in our half of the draw are very beatable. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Brazil are waiting for us in the final, of course if we do really get that far.

I don't think we are the best team in the tournament, but little things are going our way. The Rodriguez injury, the temperature falling just in time for the Colombia game, etc. We might spawn our way to the World Cup! 😁

We are as good as in the final question is will it be Brazil , France or Belgium we beat to win it , history points to Butland producing a wonder save to deny Neymar or Hazard to bring the World Cup home .

England’s path to the final
Sweden/Switzerland then Russia/Croatia .....fuck me it’s unbelievable
This World Cup is similar to Leicester winning the title wth all the main teams dropping off is a one off only chance which like Leicester will never be repeated
Go get it England

Imagine the irony:
Semi-final, England v Russia. 2-2 in extra time. Geoff Hurst Harry Kane smacks a shot against the under-side of the bar, the ball bounces down onto the line and out of the goal. The ref consults the VAR, and even though every replay shows it doesn't cross the line, the German official nods vigorously and the goal is given....

Haven't we only won 1 knockout game since 1990(Ecuador) or something like that?

Haven't we only won 1 knockout game since 1990(Ecuador) or something like that? Also Denmark. But on the other hand, as I said on another thread, the only teams who have beaten us in knock-out games since 1966 are (West) Germany, Argentina, Brazil & Portugal, half those defeats were by the dreaded penalty shoot-out. So you could say our knock-out record against the "lesser" teams is actually ok!

Can we just appreciate that one of Russia, Croatia, Sweden, Switzerland, Colombia or England are guaranteed to reach the final? If you'd have said any of those teams will reach the final at the tournament, you'd have been sent into therapy!

I'm an Aussie and both my brother and I are forecasting England v Uruguay in the final. I hear what you all say, they lost the Belgium and the Euros in recent memory, but there is actually a powerful, agile team running around for the Three Lions.
Good Luck, I'm barracking for them.

Watching the missed and muffed shots in the SWE-SWI game, ENG should be licking their chops.....get past COL and they're playing CRO in the semis.
