Why give Boro their money back on a player they’ve not used that much when we can’t get money back on some of our lesser lights such as Woods and Etebo? It’s bonkers. Let’s loan him and agree a fee based on appearances?

For £5M ???? I wouldn’t have him for any sort of fee. If we could get him with a total of £5mil, 3 cash now and 2mil for later seasons. I definitely would. Some of the shite we've spent on players in the last few years and got no return. We'd get a decent pro for that. £5 million will be a massive fee this summer. Other issue will be wages. If there is a salary cap we would be spending a large part of our budget in one go

cannot get in a struggling boro team £5million is a bit steep to me rather go in to the loan market Only because he's not a Warnock/desperation/hoof ball player.
The guy is quality, and having seen him play a number of times, I have no doubt he's good enough for the Prem, provided he got the right manager at the right club (and avoided further injury)

He may we’ll turn out to be our more defensive Nick Powell. Another Man United refugee. Good football education, bad luck with injury a cut above. I’m for this one if it can be done sensibly.

I have read people's views on this thread, having no knowledge of McNair, but right now SuperMON can do no wrong for me, and I have every confidence in his judgement.
Even when he makes odd team selections and subs, I believe he is trying things and learning about players.

Sky sports:
17:44 SOBHI BACK TO AL AHLY?
Huddersfield have told Al Ahly they will have to buy Ramadan Sobhi if they want him back.
The 23-year-old returned from a short loan at his former club on June 30 and they have been hoping for another loan until the end of the Egyptian Premier League season in October.
But the Terriers are not prepared to sanction one and want a sale as they look to rearrange their squad this summer, having just survived in their first season back in the Championship
At least one other club is interested in signing the Egypt winger, who scored five times in nine appearances during his time back in his homeland.
He was brought to England by Stoke City in 2016 for £4.5m and switched to Huddersfield for £5.85m when the Potters were relegated in 2018.
Is that the last transfer we made a profit on?

McNair hasn't signed then?
What about the 18 year old Irish youth international who sounds like he's of Nigerian parents?
Fake as well?

That would've been a strange move for me. Particularly given Clucas's performances last year, I wonder if it's impacted him this season?

The headline mentions wages - presumably it means Boro could not match what we pay Clucas? If so then Clucas shouldn't really complain at the deal not going through - his choice not to settle for lower wages!

McNair is the sort of midfielder we need but to compliment Clucas, not replace him.

Player of the season last year but we're happy to shift him on - maybe he thinks he's worth a bit more.

I think McNair would be a good replacement for Mikel when he goes. Just wondered how many millions on top of McNair they would of given us for Clucas?
Edit just saw he was expecting money and Clucas in return for McNair 😂😂

Are Boro playing him in a back 3? Yes and he is playing on the left of those 3, but he is right footed

Think this was in Warnock's dreams. Why would we want to let Clucas go and who says he would want to go? I changed my mind is what managers say when they realise they are not going to get what they want.

Warnock was also bemused by Bayern Munich's refusal of an Alphonso Davies + Cash swap deal involving George Friend.
What a shit deal for both club and player that would have been. I like Paddy McNair and I'd be happy to see him in a Stoke shirt but Warnock is absolutely dreaming there.
