The crafty gits got me on the arm yesterday afternoon while at the Apedale railway. Swelling and itching is horrendous and you don't even know that they've done you until its too late. Bloody swelling and itching had better go down soon. I've got a left arm the size of Schwarzenegger, shame about the rest of the body.

Are you fuckers sure it’s horseflies? Only the last time I had an unexplained swelling I ended up needing Penicillin injections in the nethers. Craig is familiar with that I know for sure.

Antihistamine tablets, some bite cream with hydrocortisone and enhanced blister patches
Next step medical advice
Incognito products are good insect repellants

My infections were nowhere near my testicalos.

I acquired a bite on Sunday on the side of my face. got the bite cream out and stole one of my daughter's anti histamine tablets.

Pity it didn't bite you on one of the solid steel bits in your posh new 'ips, Chuff. Just Googled 'ossfly bites, and several articles all stress very strongly that victims should not scratch the area (agreed, almost impossible) as this can lead to it becoming infected and the infection then spreading and worsening. It also recommends seeking medical advice if the bite is bad, so don't be too macho and keep suffering if it's looking nasty - get the doc on the case. Sometimes antihistamine tablets can be taken for bites, but you have to be careful with them if you're driving as some of them can cause drowsiness. Anyway, I sympathise - it's mozzies with me. On foreign hols you can see the vicious little barstewards start queuing up as soon as they see me get off the plane.

It's only the second time I've been 'GOT' as it were but on a trip to a Greek island many years ago my mates drew a picture of me and added a few dots every day marking the mozzie bites. I decided that I was only there to keep them off everyone else. The two ladies in the party thought it was hilarious, one happened to my girlfriend at the time!. 1987 I think it was. Hockey friends can be harsh.

The little buggers love me - I always come in from the garden with 2 or 3 little bites from midges or mozzies or whatever they are. They irritate like hell and usually last 3 or 4 days.
Used to live by the Dee estuary and regularly got mozzie bites there. I had a couple of horsefly bites on my left arm and it swelled up about 50% bigger than normal and was as painful as hell for a good week or so but fortunately no other symptoms.
When I go abroad I don't usually get bitten strangely enough.
