Heard Kieffer Sutherland butcher Purple Rain earlier. Astonishingly bad.
However far more criminal is Guns and Roses (sorry their correct name is fucking Guns and fucking Roses) shoddy cover of New Rose.
Any more?

Blond on Blond. There’s a whole lot of love. I had that fucker on picture disc. My old lady chucked it out with the rest of my fucking vinyl collection. If I’m ever up on a murder charge I’ll have that as mitigation.

When Rolf Harris did his version of Stairway to Heaven, he claimed to have never heard the original. I found this incredulous at the time, but I suppose the writing was on the wall...

I wouldn't say Elvis's versions were the "worst ever", but probably not as good as these.

Killing Joke bought it out 1981.
Metallica covered it 2005.

Felonious Bad? Bad! sacrilege. I think Elvis's version is actually better than Simon and Garfunkel's. I think when Elvis performed many of his ballads he related them to his own life....put some soul into it..eg just his resigned saying of " yeah" early in the song...." When times get rough....." ( At 2.42- 2.52 he gives one of his disapproving looks to the instrumentals for coming in too loud....He always said that for every performance there was a new audience so they had to give their best/ one of the things I like about him) Paul Simon thought that Presley's was the best version of the song, including his own. During that summer season in Vegas, Paul Simon attended one of the shows, and, after seeing Elvis perform the song, he was reported to have said, "That's it, we might as well all give up now."
