Anyone disappointed that Swansea have him and we don't?

Nope.
We've got a good manager and we're going to win the league.

I think the idea that we had a manager named potter would have soothed the masses, it's like he was one of our own😋

Nope. This is no time for flights of fancy. Swansea have taken a punt on a bloke who could be a genius or could be Egil Olsen. We've just looked at the top teams in the Championship and poached the best manager.

Good player! I think the jurys out on his management capability though. It would be nice to see him have a small amount of success however, given its Swansea, we wouldn't want him winning the league or anything would we now!

No, he'll be sacked by December.
If he isn't and god forbid Rowett hasn't won every game this board will be littered with outrage.

Cant say Im particularly disappointed, especially considering we somehow tied down my personal first choice for the job back in January. Rowetts our man, he is young and enthusiastic (like Potter), but he also has experience of managing at this level. Potter, as bright a prospect as he is, would have been too much of a gamble.

He may be a lot of things but a 'good player' he certainly was not. York City were the only team for which he enjoyed more than 50 games and that tells you all you need to know about his on field ability. He may well turn in to a good manager, I have no idea about that.

Could go either way. Clearly he is an original thinker but he has no recent experience of English football and lacks knowledge of current Championship players (Unlike Rowett). At the moment I definitely prefer the "Rowett Option"

Really didn't want him, he's a massive gamble for Swansea.

It will be interesting to see how he adapts his methods and approaches to the training regime. The longest league season he's managed is for 30 games over 7+ months and he's stepping into a 46-game season over 8+ months. A gamble, definitely, but like Lampard at Derby it could pay off. Rowett is far less of a gamble but has a different challenge with us as he'll now have to manage expectations that will undoubtedly be on his shoulders from the get-go.

I dont think he is such a gamble. He has really earned his stripes over in Sweden and looks to do something different.
That experience of working/living abroad should give him some excellent perspective IMO.
Hopefully we are banking on the safer option with knowledge of this league, but I reckon Potter will do something smart at Swansea over a couple of seasons.

Earning your stripes in Sweden doesn't get you out of the championship . He'll be one of the first to get sacked this season.

I think the problem that Potter will have is that Swansea don't tend to give their managers long to prove themselves, and because like us, they need to go up before the parachute payments decrease, it will make them even more trigger happy than normal. If they make a slow start then I can see him being under a lot of pressure by October. He might have been better off going somewhere like Ipswich or Shrewsbury where he would probably be given longer to settle in.

There is no single way to become a proven Top Level Manager. You are just being obtuse for the sake of it.

Hope he does really well, not at our expense mind, and proves that young British managers should get the opportunity to have a go at a decent level.
