I’d say I’m a casual mountain biker. I’ve got a Boardman 650 hardtail, whilst hardly top of the range is more than enough for me. I usually just piece together a route using OS maps, so I link up canal tow paths, old railway lines, green lanes etc into a decent route. I really need to get a bike carrier for the car and get further afield. I’m not into anything competitive, just a two wheeled pony trekker

I use one my brother in law had in the shed, had to put new brakes on it, cost about £20, gets me about fine.
Went in Swynnertons the other week and I was gobsmacked at how much some people pay for bikes.

I know bugger all about e-bikes :/ We like to ride along the canals, can get to loads of places from the top of Limekiln and it's more or less flat I've been doing more walking lately tho, accompanying my sister on her pre holiday weight loss walks, doing me the world of good, great weather and fantastic countryside in the shape of Parkhall on my doorstep, and it's free!

Last couple of bikes have been hybrids as I find the upright sitting position much easier on my my arthritic hips and back. First one was a Giant DX Expression which was a monster and very heavy despite ally frame and alloy wheels. Because of the weight I recently bought a Carrera Crossfire 2 which is much lighter and so far, is excellent. Did the 25 mile Saltram to Yelverton and back cycle track in Plymouth with ease couple of weeks ago. Hopefully Camel Trail from Bodmin to Padstow with grand kids in school hols. If anybody is thinking of a Devon and Cornwall cycling holiday, don’t think twice just do it as there are some fab rides down here mostly flattish, off road and easy access.

It is charged off the mains. Basically it is nine speed bike which can be used with no assistance at all but if needed you have three levels off assistance provided by a motor mounted adjacent to the crank which I us for hills headwind etc.It also has a high boost button which I use on roundabouts traffic lights etc.it takes you up to around 16 m.p.h. in a instance, very handy .

Unfortunately I was massively into it until I had a big accident on the chase and finished up with a broken hip and confined to bed for 3 months. That said I’m still a big fan just don’t do it as much as I use to as I can’t afford another accident. We are very fortunate having Cannock on our doorstep given that it’s a proper trail centre however within 90 mins drive we have some fantastic stuff. Hopton Woods in Shropshire is awesome. Llandegela near Wrexham is probably the best trail centre I’ve been to. There’s quite a bit of natural stuff around Minton Batch/ long mynd in Shropshire. Even Hanchurch Woods has a nice short little route which I’d recommend. I did a run/ride cross country mtb race a month or so back that was brutal but at the same time thoroughly enjoyable. It’s a great hobby.

Have been wanting to get a bike to lose a few pounds and genrally keep in shape, but kept putting it off. This morning though I nabbed this from the fence Cash Converters. Needs a bit of attention, but all in all it's pretty sound. Now I haven't ridden a bike since I was at school, some 30 odd years ago, and I'll tell you this. Riding it back from Newcastle to Stoke (A34 > Hospital > Penkhull > and then down Chamberlain Ave) nearly fucking killed me. Guess I have some work to do.

Bought a Bulls Black Adder carbon frame MTB last year. Did a trail along the local river (Isar) for the first time in about 10 years. Found the lightweight frame really helpful for carrying the bike over the rocks and fallen trees I used to jump over last time I was out. I need to get out more to get fitter (mid 50's and feeling it). I also need to stop blaming the weather for not going cycling more often.

There's a great track that runs all round the quarry at Freehay, hilly enough to need a bit of effort but you don't need to be an expert. Some splendid entry level off-road routes in Dimmingsdale, but too busy at weekends.

OK, I didn't realise just how out of shape I actually was. Today I woke up and my calves and my quads were that stiff and felt like I'd ran a fucking marathon. Still, I guess it'll get better the more I use it. Just nipped down Sainsburys on it, it's only half a mile each way, and that seemed fine.

I tried to get into biking, I got from Fenton to Blurton and my quads were burning with the fire I can only imagine emanates from a Volcano as it’s erupting, I was sweating like a menopausal woman watching The Notebook, my breaths were that shallow and desperate I thought I was going to have a cardiac arrest, my testes were mashed into what can only be described as a fleshy paste, and my arsehole was so ruined from the fantastically uncomfortable seat it would have made George Michael wince. I then realised I had to bike home, and truly contemplated if throwing myself under a passing Screwfix lorry was a suitable option.

Got a second hand Boardman hybrid a few of weeks ago to commute to work on twice a week, 26 mile round trip taking in Black Bank and Alsager's Bank.
Enjoying it that much I really want to get a mountain bike and head up to Hanchurch and Cannock Chase for a bit of fun!
