If its 3 weeks in late January for example I can live with that, if it's around Xmas time then it's a joke as the Xmas fixtures shouldn't be tampered with....

Just watch a load of money making mini tournaments popping up in China/USA/Middle East to fill this "rest period" - then a few years later when they want even MORE money these "tournaments" will include a couple of league games - or am I bing over sceptical?

10 day break in February, FA Cup shunted around and dumbed down with no replays. All to keep the big 6 happy at the expense of others. Shit idea

With regards this I’m sure they have said teams can go away for a winter break and training if they want to but can’t do any promotions or tournaments etc.

They’ve always guaranteed the Christmas fixtures mate because of its status in our football calendar It’s always been muted to start around 5th January or when ever that first Saturday is

Will anyone even notice, you regularly go 2 weeks without a fixture anyway in the Premier League due to international friendlies?
Bit wishy washy to be honest......

All the more reason to make sure the club gets back to the premier league at the first attempt. That break will generate huge income for the club's.

There won't be a break, clubs will be off for a winter tournament in the middle east or USA.

There won't be a break, clubs will be off for a winter tournament in the middle east or USA. which is still a break this is exactly what the Germans do, go and play some non competitive friendlies somewhere warm. it's a break from high pressure football does it benefit the Germans?

Scrapped FA Cup 5th round replays too. In a few years the 3rd and 4th round replays will probably also be scrapped, denying lower league teams crucial revenue.
Rather than representing all of English football, the FA has become yet another avenue for the big Premier League clubs to exert their influence.
I hate what football has become in England.

I hope the 10 days without games will be in January rather than in February. Makes more sense to me because of the climate and games remaining.

The justification by the FA is laughable. They reckon that it will improve our International teams chances in summer tournaments...yeah right. Also they say it will help our champions league qualifiers...yeah that's the sole reason for the change brought about by lobbying from the top 6. FA are an absolute joke.
Do league clubs get to vote on these changes?

Making the League Cup a shorter competition is fine. Messing with The FA Cup though is scandalous, but unfortunately in this country we seem unable to revolt against the money men in the same way german supporters do.

How on earth would Stoke City generate 'huge income' during 10 spare days in February? Maybe by "sponsored" "Friendly" tournaments? I bet we made a few bucks doing that Asian trophy thing And no matter what they say I bet there will be loopholes that lawyers can figure out how to exploit so MAn Utd can play Liverpool in NYC or China -- disguised as a friendly in some way What's the difference between a "training game" and a competitive fixture?

More midweek games in the Championship to make up the time...f**k the fans...again! Tossers How will it help England...our players play less that many other European players already...'cos half of them don't make their club stating 11's most of the time

Any club arranging friendlies instead of giving the players a rest should have points deducted.
