We are on the haven site, may have been where you ended up It's my favourite place in the world, best beach in the country IMO The Haven site,Perran Sands is the best one I have been on.Brilliant. As you so rightly say it is the best beach in the country. Holidaying on the Isle Of Wight at the end of July which, imho is on a par with Cornwall but both are beautiful parts of the country. Riviere Sands for me! I've been there the past 2 years. Glorious area!

We were in St Ives last week and goin again end of August , we use to do all the have haven sites in Devon and Cornwall when the bastards were little , sorry children , but now they are all grown , but still supported by the bank of dad , the spongers ( children ) go on there own , to leave me and my bitch ( wife ) to go on our own 😇 We were in St Ives last Wednesday. Travelled from Ivybridge, nearest station to Brixton where we live in South Devon, and changed at St Erth where we joined the cattle train to St Ives. We have Devon and Cornwall Railcard and the trip cost £29.50 for 3 adults and two kids. It pissed down from the minute we got off the train to the minute we got back on 3 rainsoaked hours later. been to Cornwall twice for holidays since the kids were born, pissed down both weeks, traffic everywhere, haven't bothered since.

We stayed on a caravan site in Woolacombe years ago, paid a fortune for a big static in high season, we got there on the Saturday and the weather was glorious, it rained the next day and didn't stop raining until the Thursday, wettest August on record apparently :/

Fortunately being retired and on the doorstep we can pick and choose forays into Cornshire. Avoid it July and August.

Those in the know save two hours travelling and don't traverse the Tamar. No league footie clubs either.

Those in the know save two hours travelling and don't traverse the Tamar. No league footie clubs either. The Tamar runs from almost the North Cornish Coast to Plymouth so has to be crossed when exiting Cornwall. The A30 crosses the Tamar at Dunheved Bridge on Launceston by-pass. Only joshing with you as I understand your meaning that taking the A30 instead of the A38 will save time if you live mid or west Cornwall.

Impressive local geography, for the sake of about a mile from the source of the Tamar near Morwenstow, Cornwall's an island 😀

Have stayed at Treen Farm campsite a few times (my uncle stays there every year) and have friends in Newlyn. Not sure if I've actually been to Lamorna Cove though. Get to many/any games?

It's really gone downhill in the last few years, the beach is still ace but as you say, the town itself is now really grubby and aimed at Stag and hen parties. We avoid it apart from Morrisons and Aldi

I have travelled and sailed around Cornwall a lot and have to say one of the nicest places and also least known is Cawsand on the western coast of Plymouth Sound.
A beautiful Cornish village, a few pubs, beaches and costal walks. It doesnt get much better.

On a similar note,I am curious if there are any fellow Stokies residing on the Isle Of Wight? The reason I am asking is that it seems,as most places that it is overrun with Man Utd (glory hunting)fans. Have holidayed on the IOW numerous times,(also going end of July this year) and although I wear my colours regularly I have yet to be acknowledged by a fellow believer.
