1966 final. England 4 West Germany 2 at the Home of Football after extra time. Nothing comes close to me beyond that one. "They think it's all over... it is now!" OS.

Apologies if I've just read over it, but I can't believe, especially on here, that no one's said Brazil v England 1970!
For Banksie's save if nothing else? And Moore's second perfect tackle!

The first World Cup I remember watching was Argentina 1978 - I fixed up a blanket and washing line den in the back garden and ran an extension lead to the portable TV. Ardiles, Kempes, Luque, Passarella, the ticker tape descending from the impossibly steep stands, the final against the total football of the Netherlands. It all seemed so exotic and far way, like nothing I had seen before.

1982 West Germany 3 France 3. Most famous for Toni Schumacher’s GBH assault on Patrick Battiston. Didn’t even get a yellow card, he’d be arrested for that today!

Throw in some mint graphic design for the posters etc and the only piece of Andrew Lloyd-Webber music I'll confess to liking as a theme and it was all very hypnotic for a young kid....

98 was a brilliant world cup, had some fantastic teams, goals and games. I loved the Holland v Argentina game, and Bergkamp's post match dedication "That was for England," made it better. The goal Bergkamp scored that day was an absolute cracker.

I was fortunate as a 19 year old to see the game live. It was incredible - in my top three games seen live ever 👍

Italy v Brazil 1970 Brazil v Sweden 1958 Hungary v West Germany 1954
plus a mention for the France v Germany match in which the German keeper rushed out and flattened the oncoming French player - and stayed on the pitch! (apologies for not noticing outspaced's post earlier)

The first game that comes to mind is usually the one. For me it's Italy vs Brazil in 1982. I was on holiday in Scotland watching in disbelief as the great Brazil that had ran rings round the USSR and Scotland somehow came unstuck.

Think we can add Spain Vs Portugal from Russia 2018. Got to be up there. First great World Cup game in quite a while. The tournament has started decently I'd say. You're never going to get every game being great but there's been something going on in every game and this Argentina v Iceland game has started well too.

I wish the cameras were here tonight Just re inacted our game against Tunisea, against my Westie. She's brilliant in defence and a mystic(knickame mystic Mook honestly). ) Of cause i was Arry Kane, but she Misty marked me out the game like last time i was picked against an All Star Brazillian bunch of painters On Aquidneck Island RI . I gave her an 1 nil start, arry equalized 1-1 HT . Arry and Mcguire scored 2nd half , but Mystic Mookie is all dirty guts and predicting like a true Scottish bastard that she is predicted Tunisia will win.
Believe me , this dog saved a penalty against Brazil in my backyard and if VAR was there she would have been sent off too.
