Fully deserved. He did a ludicrous job at Macc. Took them from nowhere to promotion on buttons.

Where has shrewsbury's manager gone? Turns out he was being somewhat of a shitbag, apparently got the Ipswich job a while back and shrews turned to shit since.

Ex-Vale. At least he's managed to bag himself a big job before they come calling when it all goes tits up under Aspin.

having met john is his time as an insurance salesman[90's] I can say he was a genuine guy with a love of football and wished all our local clubs well. not sure why he would swap macc [just got promoted no pressure whatsoever] to shrewsbury who just lost out in the play offs.he will be under the spotlight there. he will be earning loads more £££££ but with that comes the pressure.

John is a decent lad a proper football man from a footballing family, surprised the Fail never turned to him to be honest.

I played football with John before I went off to Uni and he went off to Macc I think. Nice guy. Quiet. I must admit I never expected him to make a living out of footy. Fair play to him.

Where has shrewsbury's manager gone? Ipswich I beg this isn't true. Worst play off team I've ever seen - Shrewsbury was crap.

You might have answered your own question there. Maybe football is what gives him his living, and Shrewsbury have doubled his salary?? I could easily go and earn 1/3 of what I do now, with 'no pressure' - but where's the fun in that?? 😑

I lived briefly in Macc in the 70s and have watched half a dozen games a season ever since and adopted them as my"2nd team"
Always a good experience there but the support is woeful (too many big teams locally to go watch) even their first ever League Two match in 97 attracted less than half the grounds modest capacity.
As a result players move on all the time as wages are not great. I don't blame Askey for a second as he has increased his income significantly but I can't see who would want the job working with no support and no money for significant signings.
Sadly I think Askey may find Shrews too big a step
