Annoyingly Southampton are going to be one of the first results I look out for now to see how the deluded fella & his merry men are going on..

Open comment to our friends from Southampton
To be fair on Hughes he did wonders with Pulis’s squad. He added flair to it with, Arnautovic, Bojan and Shaqiri. He patched it up well with Bardsley, Peters and Muniesa ...even Johnson, at first. But what he inherited from Pulis was a bunch of warriors, It wasn’t all going badly wrong when he walked in, it was just stagnating and he breathed some life into it.
It fell to bits over time as Pulis’s squad needed replacing. We were never prolific scorers, but we were pretty hard to break down defensively. He never solved the striking issue to justify blowing holes in the defensive approach. On top of this, he clearly doesn’t do DNA like Pulis did. Marc Wilson’s criticism of his defensive management was telling. Under Pulis, Wilson would never had got near a journalist to make his comments. And as one-dimensional as the defending was under Pulis, at least they all knew what they were doing. Getting rid of Huth was odd, the signing of Wollsheid to replace Huth was cause enough to have him sectioned. He had reluctantly been relying on Whelan and Walters to dig him out of holes for two years...then he sold them and bought Wimmer!
Throughout his time here, I liked Hughes. It’s only since he has left that I have really re-examined his role in our demise. I think he hoodwinked us a lot. He comes across as calm and intelligent, but after a while of hearing that ‘we controlled the game well’ and ‘were never worried’ and ‘we question key decisions the official made’ but ‘we move on’. Then you balance that with the stats where nearly every week someone is putting four goals past one of the best keepers in the game. You think either he’s deluded or he’s not up to it. And when you can no longer send on Walters to rally the team and battle for a point, it’s all a bit hollow and Marc Wilson’s words seems to echo in the background.
So I hope Southampton fair better than we did. I would suggest that a three year contract is a year too long with Hughes. He has organized Soton’s existing team well in a needs must way and got them out of a fix. It’s when he starts doing everything else his own way that it can all fall apart.

Lambert did worse than Hughes with a better set of players and a far easier run of games. Our possession stats and shots on target turned to shit Overnight. If you want to give credence to actual facts, and also what actually happened in real life there in front of our eyes on the football pitch, and not in paul lamberts imagination, then paul lambert does have to take a huge share of the blame. Our squad was easily good enough to stay up Ok 30% Lamberts fault and a massive 70% Hughes and his cronies (who are all once again in a nice cushy job) for the mess he let the team get into over the last 2 years. The resentment is that he failed massively in his job to let the club get into the state it did. I won’t forget the 9th places finishes but I certainly won’t forgive the last 2 years that have left my club where it is. Blame our board for not getting rid when he’d clearly reached the end of his shelf life at the club. What’s to forgive should he have sacked himself. Get in the real world people don’t do that.

Let’s all have a bet on the first 0-4 defeat, home or away?
Obviously depends on who they play, but with 12 matches against the top 6, they will likely have played around 4 by a third of the way through.
So, match 13 for me.

Whoever he signs for and whatever he does with them won't hide the fact I fucking hated him from day 1 at our club.
As charismatic as a left over pizza.

Four goal drubbings are a reality in modern Premier League football unless you play so conservatively you end up presenting no threat what so ever. Four is the new two.

Agree, but for someone who has probably accumulated the most abject defeats over the period in question, it will be interesting to see when those nervous twitches and windmill arms start up again - and how quickly the board and fans start reacting to it.

On the one hand, it's time for us to move on. On the other hand, this tosser basically poured petrol over our house and set it on fire, got rescued by the fire brigade before he suffered any consequences himself, then found free accommodation in a nice hotel while we burned to death. Now, because he didn't also burn down the hotel, the national papers are congratulating him for being a brilliant firefighter and the hotel owners have rewarded him with the key to their executive suite for the next three years. Southampton weren't even in the bottom three when he took over. Great escape my arse. We weren't in the bottom three when he left either....

He’s got a better squad there with more attacking weapons it will depend how he builds on that. They may be able to attract players he wants that we couldn’t or wouldn’t. I’m not sure how many of the fuck up signings were his first choice but regardless he’d completely lost his way at our club. The owners just refused to accept it.

All the Hughes haters yes it went stale but how much was he pissed off with the board .we played some of the best football we have seen n then the board got complacent thinking we were bang on safe and could do it on the cheap. Yes the football went rapidly down hill but he wanted players Bauer lemina gabbadini at the start of the season the board got cheap options in or didn't bother. So yes the football turned crap but to me this is all down to the board 5 years in the making being in the bottom five of spenders all that time .you cannot do the prem league on the cheap as it will catch you up eventually

I wish him well. I was against sacking a manager mid season it never works for us.and it is a fact when we sacked mh we were outside the bottom 3.if he had stayed who knows we may have stayed up then we could have worked on reshaping the squad in the summer? That's all conjecture now so no point in dwelling on our past mark Hughes is an honourable man so deserves to be treated with respect. Now let's give Gary rowett 100% support

Right now onto the Championship with our new manager. Perhaps we can have a season without mentioning ex managers in general?

That's scouting but imbula was class for a game then couldn't be arsed .wimmer everyone is shaking the heads at that n can't believe we could recoup 10 million for him he is dog shit. Some players don't work. 50 million on Torres world class striker at the time did Chelsea know he would turn dog shit some players just don't settle or gel into a team. Our squad needed alot more funding fact .Hughes wanted Bauer etc at the start of the season who knows how it would have turned out. What is annoying is the board apparently willing spend 50 to 80 mill this season (we will see) should have done this in the prem.the board tried cheap with the squad n then Lambert n it bit us on the arse. Good luck Hughes thanks for some of the best games I've seen but now Gary rowetts barmy army
