Just turned sky sports on and only caught the last bit of his interview but it sounded like he has spoke to Dyche and he has been given the your free to leave if you want to play speech.Anybody see it to confirm that what it was relating to.If so i would not mind him back at Stoke, the championship is a level he could be more than a good squad player at.

Ace if he can prove his fitness.
Seems like those million back to back games finally caught up with him.

No, because we can do better. He hardly played for Burnley last season. We need to move on.

Some people need to stop living in the past and move on. As much as I love super Jon, and we need his spirit and commitment you are quite right. Let's find a fitter, younger version, there must be one out there. I'd be happy to bring Jon in just to bollock the team when we are losing at half time, Ably assisted by Sir Robert of Huth.

A no brainier for me. Get him in on a one year contract for his drive and passion with a view to coaching, if he gets fit great, if he doesn’t no problem. A dressing room must.

Unlucky with two injuries at the wrong time at Burnley. Injured in only his second match, he battled back to fitness around Christmas time but Burnley were doing well and in and around the top six. JW looked like he might get a chance when Wood was injured on Dec 23 only to suffer another injury in January and was out until April. When Walters was available again Burnley were on a five-game winning run with Dyche sticking with fit-again Wood and Barnes as they successfully chased Euro qualification. Shame it looks like his BFC career ended before it really started but you never know if he can somehow stay fit. Bardsley is in a similar position with limited game time but he could benefit because of the extra Euro games (two minimum ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif) ).

I love SJW, but its a no from me - we need a young dynamic team, not another squad over run by veterans who are on their last legs.

I can't see how he would cope with a 46 game season with loads of midweek games. Good player but we need to move on.

Dean Marney, another 34-year-old veteran who has suffered a lot of injuries, could still do a cracking job for a team chasing promotion from the championship.
Rumoured to be going to Forest, but if I was Rowett I'd try to sign this Clarets cult hero on a free. Our best player in the 2013/14 promotion season and one of the best in 2016/17 before his second bad knee injury at Arsenal in January 2017. A tough-tackler and super stamina for 90 minutes, even in his 30s he was Burnley's top player for fitness and a firm Dyche favourite and crowd favourite.

So give him a one year contract because he's passionate? What tasks would he be expected to perform? Well they employ Cartwright and no fooker knows what he does!😜 Not just passion, drive and the right attitude, ffs we pay berahino millions, surely we can fund Walters for coaching/mentoring/changing the ethos/possible playing role. That’s far more attributes than wimmer, berahino and imbula combined! I’m not saying Walters is the answer, certainly shouldn’t be a team focused around him.

We could have done with him this season
But we offered him one year and an option he jumped for a guaranteed two years. He didn’t back himself at stoke
Why should we back him now

We need somebody 10 years younger, not an aged injury prone guy at the end of his career, they will probably be fitter and be able to last a season.

If Marney stays fit for 30/35 games, I can see Forest being dark horses for promotion.
He could do a similar job to what Barton did for us in 2015/16.

It's amazing how this supposed "top pro" whinges his bag off in the press about not playing around this time of the year. I have no proof but I got the impression Dyche had lost a little patience with Walters in the final month of the season. Seemed to have bcome a bit of an outsider in a squad renowned for its team spirit and togetherness.
