Four groups or eight teams spread over a longer period will surely mean more dead rubber games than in the current format.
BT's viewing figures for Champions and Europa League group matches are supposedly falling off a cliff and only come to life in the knockout staged. Therefore extending the group stage season so there are more Manchester City vs RB Salzburg games where Citeh have already qualified and Salzburg can't possibly do so would seem to be folly.
At which point interest switches back to the domestic league to see who is going to qualify for next year.
Unless it's going to be a closed shop - but no relegation from the European League and no prospect of promotion to it form the domestic leagues would kill both formats.
Can't speak from Middle Eastern or Asian audiences but I can't imagine European ones would find either of the above of particular interest once the novelty had worn off.

A European super league has been touted for thirty years now.
Not going to happen.
However changes to Champions League and domestic leagues to benefit 'elite' clubs is bound to happen.

If they have an issue with number of games played then maybe the Champions league should be restricted to Champions and be a knockout competition over two legs?

How many English teams in this Super League? What about the Benficas, Ajaxs, Zenit St Petersburgs?
You cannot have all six of the big English teams if it is only a 16-team "super league". How will Chelsea & Arsenal react if they miss out like this season?
To get this through, there would have to be promotion and relegation. What if Man United had a bad season and were replaced in the "Super League" by someone like Leicester?
If the Big Six did not agree to promotion and relegation to the "Super League", they could be prevented from playing in the domestic league and cups.

I hope a breakaway happens. I genuinely think it would fall on it's arse within a couple of years and football can finally recalibrate.

Something has to change in the PL. At the moment there are 10-15 teams who go out to park the bus and keep a clean sheet. Outside of a handful there is virtually no attacking football on display in the PL. I have no idea if a Euro league is the answer but with the money floating about in English football we should be rinsing the Champions League every season.

How about changing it so you get zero points for a goalless draw? The park-the-bus teams would have to score at least one goal to get any points. ...or keep it at one point each for a 1-1 draw but 2 points for a 2-2, 3-3 draw.

Perhaps they would be playing Burnley if league positions are anything to do with it.

The games are boring because everyone is so desperate to stay in the Premier League.

If they did that then they should be banned from any domestic football until they rejoined the English leagues. At which point they should be made to start from the very bottom and work there way back through the divisions.
In their fantasy superleague there could only be one winner also, so are all the glory hunters going to be happy following a club who went from being top four/winning the Premier league to following a team who has a boring mid table or bottom half table? I doubt it, they would soon get bored of that.

I doubt it, they would soon get bored of that. I think they will be playing in both, which they are effectively doing already anyway. They will have a squad big enough to run 2 teams concurrently. The Prem League would undoubtedly let them do it, they wouldn't have any choice because these teams run the League anyway. They will organise the fixtures so they can do both. the winners of a Champions League already play 13 games. So they will still have the best players for the Prem anyway and therefore be rewarded with success.
