Wonder what he makes of the appointment of our new manager? Didn’t get much first team action at Derby He’s 35, surely we should be looking at a younger goalkeeper - Angus Gunn, u21 international

I realise that, we will probably be releasing Haugaard and probably selling Butland I anticipate Rowett looking for more home grown players than our previous management team - Gunn would be a good option imo

The best keepers normally are older, I'm sure the peak must be around 35, not sure just guessing.

Not at their best they can’t. Is he really that good that he’ll be good enough when his reaction speed drops by a fraction which is inevitable very soon if not already happened.

Wonder what he makes of the appointment of our new manager? Didn’t get much first team action at Derby He’s 35, surely we should be looking at a younger goalkeeper - Angus Gunn, u21 international We need a new goalie. We're going to lose our number one and Haugaard is out of contract. Even if we promote a kid from the academy as third choice, we still need one more. I like Grant, did more than a job for us in the one season he played, but he is 35. It makes no sense to go out and pay money for a new goalkeeper in the transfer market and make him second string to a 35-year-old, and no Premier League club is going to loan one of their young keepers to Stoke if they'll just sit on the bench in the Championship. Might be a shame for Grant, but that's the way of the world. I would be delighted with Gunn on loan specifically. He's never realistically going to play for Man City; if we had him for a season and went up, you'd have to imagine he'd consider staying.

If Grant isn't going to be our first choice this season then I would expect him to hand in a transfer request. It was one thing being No.2 to Butland but I can't see him being prepared to be No.2 to anyone else.

Grants ok but I personally wouldn’t want him as number one. Carson would be great signing in the championship. Been great last two seasons. No disrespect to grant though, just my opinion.

Heard his injury has been harder to fix than initially thought. The bone broken has taken longer to heal. Could be career limiting at his age.

Goalies can play for years more than 35! The best keepers normally are older, I'm sure the peak must be around 35, not sure just guessing. David De Gea is the best goalkeeper in the world, he’s 27 and he has been for the last 2 years IMO. I like Grant, he’s a good goalkeeper. He’s got a reoccurring big wrist injury at the moment which has been keeping him out, I’d think he’d be more concerned about that rather than Rowetts appointment.

Unless there's something big wrong with Lee that we're not aware of I'd be delighted with him as first choice keeper for the next couple of seasons but with quality younger cover. On form - and this is a Jack fan talking - Jack was only marginally our best keeper since replacing Lee and at times, tbh, he wasn't the better of them.

If we are looking at which positions we most urgently need to fill for the coming season, first choice keeper, provided Grant overcomes his injury, is not one of the top priorities. Instead we should be looking at a younger keeper to understudy him, be reliable cover, and eventually to replace him - someone like Bailey Peacock-Farrell from Leeds maybe?
Save the big money for bolstering our "pea shooter" attack.
