Most managers get sacked at some point unless you're Guardiola. Mourihno, Ancelloti, Luis Enrique, Mancini, and Benitez have all been sacked but I wouldn't turn any of them down. Attracting away from peers and even a division below isn't always straightforward as we found with Rowett. Graham Potter, Dean Smith or someone like Danny Cowley might fit the "up and coming" profile - but would be a huge risk - particularly when we seem to have a dysfunctional bunch of incompetents upstairs by way of managerial infrastructure. You might get the next Sean Dyche - but you might also get the next Frank de Boer. Oh eh up 6 games at Crystal Palace has proved De Boer is a useless manager now. Not a bad appointment by Palace who’d been set up by Allardyce a polar opposite as they should have know and been prepared to give him time or else not made such an appointment that guaranteed radical change. To make such a change overnight when you don't have the players to play that way is both bad management and career suicide. De Boer was relatively successful at Ajax - but that is like being successful at Rangers or Celtic - but lasted 14 games at Inter and 6 at Palace. Neither of which suggests he is a good manager. You could see what he was trying to do at Palace but it wasn't working - you therefore have to adapt in the meantime. He didn't. You're right in that it wasn't a great appointment for the reasons you have said - and the Palace hierarchy share the blame in that - but if he had have stayed they would have been relegated. He might well rock up somewhere else in Europe but it won't be in the Premier League. The flaw in my argument above was that he also had previously been sacked - as indeed had Sean Dyche. Which goes back to my original response to the OP that finding someone with experience who hasn't at some point been sacked is nigh on impossible.

Perhaps you need to be sacked to learn from what went wrong. Ferguson was sacked from his first job I think.

There's three certain things in life. Death taxes and football managers getting sacked. If you want one who's never been sacked it's a short list of possibilities.

Allerdyce..sacked,Moyes...sacked!!! Florres...sacked!! Why must we chase failed managers? Why not,as a club, look at whos doing well with limited budget and buck the trend of appointing other clubs shit!!! The three biggest twats at Stoke are all still in a job..Cartwright Scholes and Hughes!!! It's not a bad point...but name a successful manager that hasn't faced the sack at some point in his career- Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho et al? They all got the sack. Potter has not been sacked yet. Perhaps that is being held against him.

Hasn't every manager 'failed' and been sacked at some point?

Perhaps you need to be sacked to learn from what went wrong. Ferguson was sacked from his first job I think. He was but it was because he'd already said he was going to Aberdeen and tried to tap up players to go with him. There was a lot of broohaha around it at the time.

Hasn't every manager 'failed' and being sacked at some point? Yes just look at that waster at Chelsea he has had two seasons and all he has won is a Premier League title and the FA Cup no wonder they are looking to get rid!!

Perhaps he learned from it though😀.
