Looks like Moyes is out best option. Personally I'd have Big Sam and Moyes fight it out.

Feel sorry for Lambert who seems a genuine bloke and had an almost impossible task. If nothing else he’s started to push out the bad eggs and will have made it clear to the board which players have been taking the piss and need moving out.
It was te right decision for him to go though. Let’s hope our next appointment is the right one.

Honest question, why do people actually think Moyes is a good choice? Anyone could have kept West Ham up with the amount of money they spent in the Summer and January and even then he nearly f*cked it up.
Look at his time at United, Sunderland and Sociedad in Spain. His style of management worked with Everton but he failed to evolve with the times and has been left behind massively.
Appointing a dinosaur like him will only see us get even more stuck-in-the-mud.

Thanks to PL for stepping in when noone else would. But he wasn't the man for us, so 'well done' to the board for (eventually) doing the right thing.
Let's hope they are some way down the route of appointing the new manager, so now it's just a formality, but with a weekend of rumours, scare stories, pipe dreams and nonsense before he's announced.

Correct decision.
He shouldn't have been given the job in the first place but he had since January to win over the supporters and he failed miserably. I'm hoping the board now make an appointment that we can all get behind.

STOKE CITY can confirm that Paul Lambert has today left his position as manager by mutual consent.
Not sacked but a more respected departure.

During his time at Socieded he apparently lived out of a hotel during all his time there and didn't try to learn the language. That was a bit worrying.

Correct decision, yes.
But isn't this the same as the board saying "we made a monumental cockup in January".
Some of the underlying problems still exist, don't forget.

It had to be done - PL tried, but has proven himself to be what we suspected - that is, tactically and motivationally limited. A fresh start is best for all concerned without the lingering stench of failure and relegation hanging over the managers head.
Thanks Paul, but bye bye

Well, we need someone in quick as I guess the players will want to know WTF's going on this summer.
I would expect we've already agreed a deal in principle with whoever replaces him and that it will be announced ASAP early next week.
Any time lost searching for a replacement is time lost sorting out the team and preparing for next season.

In fairness to the Club it was the correct decision at the correct time. Lambert has got big balls for taking over such an awful squad at the time he did. He leaves with my well wishes, thank you for trying Paul but ultimately you don’t have the winning mentality that we need for a swift return.

lambert deserves great credit for his dignity and honesty , Big Sam come on down for me , lest we forget this moment yet again demonstrates what we all knew it was another appalling recruitment decision by the people about to make the next one , said at the time lambert would become scholes and cartwrights fall guy and do it has come to pass , our issues remain as chronic as ever at this point .
