They were 9th when he was appointed and 7th before his first game in charge (the caretaker manager was in charge for the match on the day Pulis was appointed). Classic error you've made there mate. You haven't taken into account the 'Rimmer Fudge Factor' where they re-write history to suit the narrative, don't worry a lot of folk miss it My spidey-senses tingled as soon as I saw it.

I... probably would, on balance. But then I always was a Rimmer. I wonder tho if he's got too hardened and closed to ideas other than his own (like he ever wasn't but you know what I mean) in the years between. I'd like a manager on the way up tbh. Tone right after leaving Gillingham is the Tone I'd really want here.

Pulis also had many years to impress us. Judging by the (extremely low) number that would have him back, he didn't do a very good job overall did he? What were those numbers ? There's a poll on here, did you miss it? (that's a rhetorical question, I'm pretty sure you didn't but I'll play along anyway ) According to that his 'approval rating' is 3.26% - not great... Seems quite a number voted too.

I don't think Pulis should came back at all but I'd definitely choose him over Gordon Strachan. Pulis vs Lambert would be a tough one but perhaps I'd keep Lambert just to see what kind of players he'd sign. The bottom line is though that I wouldn't want any of those three mentioned. We need someone with fresh ideas combined with a hint of old school attitude.

Anyway he's doing a good job with Boro, narrowly failing by the odd goal to make the play-off final at the first attempt. Watched the match yesterday and it was a gutsy performance by Boro. Typically for TPs teams they did lack some imagination and used the long throw too. After the Lambert's outburst about the players lack of discipline I'm afraid our Board are now preferring the gutsy part. They had a total of 2 shots on goal in both legs, the only gutsy thing about it was the lack of guts by the manager.

As for Gordon Strachan, we already have a mumbling Scot whose stock in trade is falling out with the playing staff and I don't think we need another. On the quiet I was, am and always will be a straight, no frills Martin O'Neill man, I think he has the intelligence and enthusiasm to get the place buzzing again. I believe he is someone Peter Coates would trust to spend his money which matters a lot. I was very disappointed but not altogether surprised he chose to honour the agreement he had with the football association of Ireland and I guess that ship has sailed. In short I am all out of ideas.

Why are they so stuck in the past?

So the options are an average Championship manager who plays dull football (Lambert) or an average Championship manager who plays worse football and is an arsehole (Pulis.
Rather keep Lambert thanks.

Agreed, but we may be in a minority of 2 on here, MON has plenty of detractors among the cognoscenti on here, but I just have a good feeling about him and us, it would work, very well!

I have heard from a very good source that Coates did meet with pulis last week.
I am not sure how true it is but my source has no reason to lie to me. I know they regularly meet up and are friends but it does seem very coincidental.

Even leaving aside my dislike for all things Pulis, Gibson is known to be a patient owner, so I can't see him dispensing with Pulis' services just because of his failure to get through to the play-off final.

THERE ARE MORE MANAGERS IN WORLD FOOTBALL THAN TONY PULIS BUT NOT A SINGLE ONE AS GOOD. WHO FAILED TO TAKE A CLUB WITH THE BIGGEST BUDGET OUT OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP.... Lol, he's been at Boro 10 minutes and already half of them want him gone. Pulis, O'Neill, Allardyce, Moyes... fuck off for fucks sake

IMO thats a superb half of a season. I'd have Pulis, Allardyce, Moyes, Pearson, O'Neill, Warnock, Rafa (not going to happen) any of them.

It'd be club suicide if he did contemplate snuggling back up with his comfort blankie though, as if the fans aren't pissed off enough, most people were happy to see the back of Pulis I know you still love him though, gift lad
