I find it strange that someone could go from producing flag and declaring forever gratitude to Hating in a little over 12 months but there you go Hating is extreme but I was also a huge fan of the bloke after what he achieved and defended him to the hilt but was desperate for him to go by the end. Tox i only used the word Hating as that is what the H stands for I wouldnt use the word myself when describing my personal feelings in deference to my Dad (RIP)who told me there is no room for hate esp in sport I think part of my problem is i love Stoke City more than the sport of football itself, so style doesnt really bother me, but Stoke city `Glory`does My favourite sport is Ice Hockey which i love with a passion but dont cloud it by following any club either herE or in the NHL.

In the words of Kevin Keegan 'I would absolutely love it'
It would be a dream if he came back. He was treated appallingly when he left, but was massive error, encouraged by a small minority of our supporters, who lets face it would kick off if we were getting The Special One from United (especially how badly they've performed this season).
We had special amazing & threw it away because it wasn't exciting.
Well look where that got us & is taking us the season afterwards, League One!

I sometimes wonder if people on here are Stoke fans or just (there must be a word for it) like being able to wallow in depression, doom & gloom.
We were proper shite in League One & then struggled in Championship. 2006 he came & organised us & in 18 months took us back to top division for 1st time in 23 years.
Shouldn't we love him & thank him forever, rather than slag him off. Without him he wouldn't have been as great as we were.
Unfortunately looking back to history, we now will be knackered for another 20 years or more.
We never had these times before (even in 1948 or whatever or the 1970's when it was built on fakeness) We had it all & gave it away.

I wasn't alive in 48 and can't comment on the merits of that team, however I am interested in the "fakeness" of the 70's. How exactly was this "fakeness" manifested?

Were Greenhoff and Hudson imaginary people?

I was feeling a bit stupid for replying to this nutter (banx10 that is) I thought I was just feeding yet another troll. However I've just had a glance through his previous posts and I think he's actually serious! Incredible.

Sorry everyone.
The 1970's.
I was born in 62, so 10 when it seemed we were gonna take on the world. I had all the newspaper cuttings of Waddington carrying Hudsons bags from the station & buying Shilton for £330,000 I think it was.
I couldn't work it out when we'd lose at home to, I don't know Sheffield United etc. Then I find out 20 years later half the team were pissed out their heads. A bit more restraint & we could have been champions.
Then a big wind blows the roof off & we're buggered cos we couldn't afford insurance!
Jump forward to 2006 ish. Internet betting explodes & we have the family with the biggest pot of gold. The new stadium. The manager we want. The players we want. New training ground. FA Cup final, Europe. But then a few fans were bored.
'We shouldn't be doing all these amazing things, we're Stokies' come on lads, let's get rid of the boss & get back to what we do best.
I just find it so sad.

Players being pissed out of their heads was how it was in the 70s. Every team could have been a lot better if they’d shown restraint, but in our case the broken legs cost us more than the beer. And it really wasn’t a few fans who were bored with Pulis. There were around 2,000 who didn’t renew their season tickets and that was just the tip of the iceberg. By the end of the 2013 season we really weren’t doing anything amazing at all.

A few fans? Are you just re-writing history to suit your viewpoint or do you genuinely think that? Run a poll mate and see how many want Toxic back? I'd be amazed if it was any more than 'a few fans'. The board shit themselves because the early bird take up shocked them, he had to go. How many fans of all his other clubs would want him back d'you think? And they didn't have anywhere near the number of years he was with us for!
