They're not having a good time in the USA either. I heard on the Jeremy Vine show today that there are about 750,000 to 1 million cars being recalled over there due to a possible fire risk. Apparently a lot have just self combusted, usually while parked.

Not had any trouble with mine but it is on the recall list so I'm expecting a call.
Mind you with how low the speed limits are and the potholes it's difficult to tell if it's stopped or not^.
Why the hell we have six gears I don't know 3 forward and 1 reverse on my brothers old for pop would be plenty.

This kind of "fault" is inherent in most modern cars though isn’t it? My friend has a Toyota Avensis that reverted to "limp mode" when he was in the outside lane of the M4. It had occurred because of an emissions error or something like that. Anyway he said it was the most frightening experience of his life and he is a retired fireman. My cousin had a frightening experience as she accelerated down the slip road onto the M6 at Hanford when her Golf went into limp mode and she was shunted by a following Mitsubishi Shogan. My daughters friend had a similar experience on A38 in a brand new Skoda Octavia luckily no collision but the fault repeated itself numerous times until the dealer eventually exchanged her vehicle because they couldn't find a fault. So the question is why are manufacturers allowed to have these kind of control measures in the interest of eco technology?

Turned out to be the automatic choke sticking on in the cold and then the lambda sensor initiated full limp mode with the dash lighting up like a Christmas tree claiming a TEAM of BMW F1 mechanics were needed to fix the problem^ Turning the engine off and then back on also did the trick for a few bob cheaper. I miss my Hillman Imp it had a floor mounted choke, Carlos Fandango wheels and two big springy aerials.

My mate had a Bond 875 three wheeler with rear mounted engine. We swapped tthe engine for a Hillman Imp engine and shit off a shovel doesn’t come even close. It would do a wheelie with two up front and one Monday night driving back from Exeter Speedway to navy barracks in Plymouth we had it off the clock at over 100 mph coming down Holden Hill. If you’ve ever driven down it it’s bad enough coming down at 70 in a four wheeled vehicle trying to hold it on the bends with reverse camber. How I reached my 20s I’ll never know.
