One of the the best coaches I have met in many years and respected by his peers. His own man and does things quietly. Did well at England until he was taken ill, as was reported in the Sentinel. Think he still lives locally too. link

He's a fantastic coach, should still be employed by the club in some capacity.

He's a fantastic coach, should still be employed by the club in some capacity. He did at the academy but the Club wouldn't pay him a proper wage !, yet we employ people like Cartwright to assist in spunking money away on shit footballers.

If you've ever spent any time in his company he'll tell you that managing isn't for him, as he found out at Exeter City. Some of the stories will have you in fits.

Yeah I remember him being with the academy, did he move on to go with England?

he'll tell you that managing isn't for him Indeed, hence I mention senior coach, as some of the players need a kick up the "jacksy", some an arm around them and others left to their own devices perhaps, as long as meeting the overall team ethic of giving everything, as getting out of the Championship, by promotion that is, requires one heck of an effort. I believe that tactically, he's an astute coach and a knowledgeable follower of the game.

I belive that tactically, he's an astute coach and follower of the game. Apologies. I've lost track these days of what a manager is, a first team coach and the difference between the two etc You'd be spot on with your last sentence. His knowledge of the game is encyclopedic. Bloody good bloke as well.

Don't know whether it's been on here anywhere, but was told Ricardo Fuller is joining the academy. That should be good for discipline.

Talked to Blakey at Pete Fox’s 60th birthday party and he said then his health issues would likely prevent him doing a full time coaching or managerial job. Great pity as he was a good coach and a real nice guy.
