Potential of Joe Allen staying is brilliant news.

Aren't Ncastle interested in both Shaq (is the £13M release clause for real!!?) and Badou? Straight swap for one of them I think (if the release clause is true, but think he is worth around £30M in today's market!)!

Yes please - he hasn't quite cut it in the prem but, in the championship, with the right service, he could bang them in for us

As good as this is to read It also makes me think Lambert is staying What's this about there is hope about Allen? If we can sit players like Badou. Bauer. Allen and Bruno down and say something like... You can keep your current wage if you stay. They'll be no relegation % cut, just please for the mother of god, stay and help us get back to the Premier League. Then if we fail then we won't stand in your way. I'd let Shaqiri and Butland go. Shaq is far, far to good for the Championship and we could be getting Bojan back and if he stays then we could be having a right good squad going into next season I really wish it was that easy

surely the choice would be that of the managers, whoever that might be? You'd think so, wouldn't you? Moyes or Allardyce (for example) would maybe want a different type of striker to Flores? And he doesn't fit the Benteke/Holt type of Lambert sriker either. Maybe shows Carto is still driving the process?

Am I the only one who is a bit disappointed by this? Admittedly it is more to do with his age than anything else.
Decent about Joe Allen though.
Disappointed to see Imbula and Choupo-Moting looking to be sold.

Surely there’s no chance of Allen staying? Teams will be all over him.

Grant's a bit meh. + Ireland's out of contract. Grant is fine at that level and I'd give Ireland a new contract, which I think he'd take. He's getting on a bit though mate. 36 half way through next season. Angus Gunn on loan would be a decent signing. I'd give Ireland a new contract as well. Going purely off that article it sounds as if Bojan may be brought back into the equation as well, which would be decent.

Would be more than happy with him, but we need a manager first.
Re Allen, I hope he goes.

Wouldn't be a bad start in the Championship would it? Grant Bauer Ryan Bruno Pieters NEW Allen NEW Ireland NEW Gayle That back four is proven to be good enough in the Premier League and therefore more than good enough for the Championship. I think we will still look to sign a new keeper even though Grant should be OK. Further forward, I don’t think Ndiaye is as good as some are making him out to be, I’d still like a solid DM in there myself. I can’t see Ireland being at the club next season either?

Could be good. Hopeful.

I don't think it matters who's choice it is for this one.
36 goals in 61 Championship games, kind of sells itself. Typical Stoke striker too, he's a potential Steino for us. Top level Championship striker - the current day Rob Earnshaw.

I think it's interesting that this has leaked out on the same day that the family have released their statement.

Probably get 1-2 seasons at most out of him, regardless of promotion. I don't think he is that different to Berahino either. Just older.

Wouldn't be a bad start in the Championship would it? Grant Bauer Ryan Bruno Pieters NEW Allen NEW Ireland NEW Gayle How would Allen work in that team, as the DM or a more box to box role? Personally I'd be bringing one or the other in as I don't see Allen as anything more than a hard worker with next to no end product, doesn't like the ball at his feet and doesn't find a pass, I know its a drop down but that doesn't mean any of that changes.

Is this another indicator that Lambert is on his way out?
He loves his big oafs doesn't he, and Gayle certainly isn't one of those?

He had one great season with us but it would scare me to death if he was our number 1, particularly given his age.

You can't compare Berhaino to Gayle!!!!!! I get that Gayle is proven at that level. But in terms of the way they play I don't see too much difference. Except a more Diouf-like work ethic.

Calm down - why would they leak this news? You do deals behind closed doors
Lulling you all into the false sense of security
Ask yourselves why this is a release today?
