If you've seen his antics after the Swansea game then yes there's no doubt. He's acted like the cunt he is tonight fuelled by the Coates statement. What do you expect? He more than likely feels aggrieved at the sacking then being publicly hung out to dry and humiliated by the people who sacked him. I doubt there would be a bloke on the planet who wouldn't be on a mission to stick it right back at us. The joke is on us, not on him. How can he be aggrieved at the sacking? Hughes Rimmer.

He shouldn't but I bet he is. He's stuck it up us and people can't deal with it. I'm no rimmer of anyone. I suggested he should be replaced 2 seasons ago when Newcastle went down.

Next season, Leicester will be relegated. 2024 it is then! I always get there (eventually)

Maybe the Coates statement made Hughes even more determined to keep Southampton up If you've seen his antics after the Swansea game then yes there's no doubt. He's acted like the cunt he is tonight fuelled by the Coates statement. The guy has a huge ego, so he thrives on these things. Its what he is. He can have is moment of glory but it wont be long before he comes unstuck again.....and some of the comments coming out of the club from players confirm what a tosser he is.

When we first employed Hughes I had a few mates at work who asked what I thought of him being our manager. I was wholly supportive and said give him a chance. These mates supported various clubs that Hughes had been involved with and the one comment they all came back with was ..... he won’t be around when you get relegatedas a result of his involvement. Nothing against Southampton fans etc or the club but if we lost 12-0 on Sunday and dragged the twat down with us I would laugh my head off. Be just like us to win now. I’d call Hughes a c##t but they are at least useful.

Hughes is a much better manager than Lambert , the whole world agrees, so why we swapped the two heaven only knows , of all the bad decisions in the last 2 years this was the most fateful. Oh don’t we love hindsight. We lost 2-1 to Coventry for god sake. Hughes needed to get out of our club ASAP. You don't think Hughes would have found somewhere in the last 14 matches the 2 wins we needed to stay up, seriously ?

Hughes is a much better manager than Lambert , the whole world agrees, so why we swapped the two heaven only knows , of all the bad decisions in the last 2 years this was the most fateful. 99.9% of Oatcake users would have swapped Lambert for Hughes after the Coventry game (and for weeks before that) so please don't try to re-write history. so while the rest of the world might think MH is a better manager than PL, nearly everyone here was happy for us to appoint anyone with a coaching badge in those last few weeks of MH at Stoke. Anyway, Hughes has a far better squad to work with at Soton. Look at the strikers he has got for a start. Not me pal, I said unless we had a better alternative, then unless we had a death wish we should have stuck with Hughes. It's not the job of the Board to be popular, it's to make the right decisions and changing Hughes at that time for this alternative was the worst of all the bad ones in the last 2 years.

I don’t like Lambert by the way but Hughes had lost it with us and wouldn’t have won another game. How many do you think Man City and Tottenham would have put past with Hughesin charge.

You know he would, there were 5 or 6 really tasty home games in that lot against the most benign of opposition, we'll never know of course, but even carrying on as he was he would have won 2 or 3 of them, you'd have to think he would. It's doesn't matter how many Spurs or Man City would have put past us, we lost those games anyway.

Just accept he’s a guilty party in what’s happened to us. I wanted him to do well with us but he’s been instrumental in the shambles that we’ve become. It was always someone else fault not his and that’s why I despise him more than ever.

To be fair to Hughes he can get results with decent players . We all know know this don't we ? Tonight he brought on an ex Napoli striker with another 20m striker unused Lambert had an 18 year old kid . Not defending Lambert really just pointing out that if Lambert had inherited players like Tadic Austin Gabbiadini Redmond Long etc he would have kept us up I reckon Nah. Lambert would have banished half of them.

Mark Hughes reminds me of one of those terrible drivers who insist they must be good because they've never had an accident - but they've seen about 100 in their rearview mirror.

He's gone, should have gone sooner, should have had more money to spend, should have spent what he did better, should have managed his squad better, should have got his squad fitter, should have created a better match plan that didn't include strikers at full back, should have tried harder not to fall out with key players like Bojan etc. Could, should, would. His squad. His job. Didn't. Relegated.

When the real truth lies in that Hughes was made to work with a relatively small budget compared to other Premier league clubs. How Hughes enabled us to achieve 3 consecutive 9th place finishes with the money made available to him was a truly staggering achievement and one that is quickly forgotten by Stoke fans. Could it be that Hughes and the players became demotivated by the lack of ambition shown by the owners that ultimately led to his and our demise in the end?

Can't we also say that because Hughes was working with a 'smaller budget' the emphasis was on him getting the big signings right? Which he didn't? It is nothing more than: he tried to rebuild and failed, it's nothing new to him. He is brilliant if you don't let him buy your core players.

No, the board did make mistakes, mainly in keeping Hughes too long, but it was the manager picking the team and deciding on the set up. This saw us going three at the back with no wing backs when we could have stayed with a back four, sticking with Fletcher for too long, throwing the game at Chelsea etc etc.

I don't know it it's all his fault but he obviously wanted most of them he left us in a huge hole . I'm not praising Lambert for much but clearing those players out with the possible exception of Affelay had to happen and Hughes wasn't using him .

This seems bang on to me the one reflection looking back was that they played better at United for Uncle Ed who they all liked and maybe him as caretaker for the season might have saved us but Hughes had run well past his sell by date . And I think the club wanted to keep Uncle Ed on but he wanted to do with his mate .

I said I believed Hughes would nick 4 points before the Bournemouth match and he has,in fact he's now got 7. Soton were just the better of two piss poor teams last night but Hughes did get them motivated and got the tactics right. It's not certain he's got the job on-going though, is it ?

Because I chose not to watch a Swansea v Southampton borefest? I don't feel like I've missed out I'll be honest...... No, because you've made it clear that mark keeping southampton up doesn't bother you. Thinking of it from next year's perspective, So'ton would be significantly harder to beat. If we were in a points scrap for automatic promotion or the play-offs, I'd rather have Swans down there with us.

Hughes showed plenty last night, on the touch line. I bet it was something to do with that 2million bonus, the t--t. I bet he can't believe his luck. Southampton possessed a far better squad than ours, obvious to anyone. He left us with a pile of crap, and I'm not afraid to say that. Saying that, something stinks about Stoke. It needs to change!
