I think a European league isn’t far off. Look at the gaps between the top clubs and rest of those in domestic leagues Man City PSG and Munich won their leagues at a canter and it’s hard to see how next season will be different. Isn’t it the case that the champions league was born out of fear of a break away league. At the end of the day money will see the top sides breaking away

For anyone waiting for our moment in the sun , that was it.

If I make there Gods I will let you know. I will be 95 You were about 39 when we went down in 85. A fairly young man still. Did you imagine for one moment you’d be in your 60s by the time we got back to the top flight again?

At the end of the day money will see the top sides breaking away I would be tempted to agree, but this season the Prem looks more like the German, French, and Spanish leagues than at any previous time with one team way ahead of the rest. Will the owners of Bayern M., Barcelona, and PSG be happy to give their dominant positions in their respective countries? And if ManC repeat their dominance next season would they want to be an also ran to a European side in a European league? I also suspect the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool who have won very little in the last decade would not want to reduce their chances of wining a competition. Liverpool are hot today, but we have seen this before with Suarez and they will lose Salah eventually.

Come on you potters 2019/2020 championship winners. But not if Lambert stays. He may have been in a team that won the champions league, but he is a crap manager. However get Graham Potter or John Askey, both Stokies, and showed they can do it against all odds and we are good to go.

I will be 50 then....
I think this - I don't feel that we are going to be in a position to come straight back up next season if we keep the golden oldies - NOW is the time for a rebuild with the parachute payments. If we keep faith with those who have let us down this season, we are more likely to go down again next season. We are rotten to the core at the moment - let's use this as an opportunity to clear the dead-wood on and off the pitch, build a youngish hungry squad with and look to develop that way, getting the fans inside in the process. If we do it right, I think we could be back in 2 or 3 seasons. If we don't, or, worse, take the championship for granted (ie - think that the likes of Fletcher will be a world beaters) the consequences could be disastrous and take a generation or more to negate...

In 23 years I will be in my late 70s, Peter Coates will be chairman of Stoke City, and Saido Berahino will have retired from professional football after spending 10 goalless seasons at Solihull Moors.

In 23 years time I'll (hopefully) be 83. Last time we went down I thought it would take around 5 years to bounce back. This time there seems to be so many aspects of the club that needs changing or replacing that I can't see it happening in just one short transfer window to give us even a slight chance of coming straight back up. If we keep Teflon Tony and Carthorse I think we're basically done for as the "processes" that have seen us relegated this time will still be in place.
Teflon, Carto and Lambert need to go, and we'll presumably need half a squad to replace those leaving. All in around 3 months ? I just can't see it happening. Coates knows how many player ins/outs will be needed so he'll retain the off field team to slightly lessen the upheaval IMO.
Lambert needs to go straight after Swansea and bring the new manages in the same week so that he gets the maximum time to assess what's needed.

It's not even funny that it took us 23 years last time.
What the hell happened? Honestly?
I don't want to wait until I'm 55 to see us back in the top league.
I think there is something in the idea of a Super League myself, it makes perfect sense.
