Thank you for admitting you're non the wiser than I am on the Berahino saga. I'm not saying every transfer under the Hughes tenureship started exclusively with Cartwright et al. Imbula seemed to be a shot in the dark from one preseason friendly, most likely driven by Hughes. What is at odds from the Spinks piece is the change of pace from a DoF driven transfer regime (per the SC minutes) to a more manager led Pulis like set up, and we know how that turned out. The conjecture was that Spinks had been fed information (I'm not so sure) by the club for his article. What's grey in the SC minutes is: was the final choice of player only open to those recommended to him from the recruitment team (maybe Ange who was at the meeting could clear up?)? His proactive approach to signings will also minimise the failings of the club’s current process with a sit-at-home manager like Hughes around. Spiknks' words not mine. Having read Spinks’ pro-Lambert apologism I’m not especially inclined to buy any of that to be honest. The process has always been manager-led as far as I can see. Almost all the signs point to that. Fair enough, your call. For the record I'd rather not start the new season with Lambert (or Scholes/Cartwright) either. If the process delivers a bloke known to have received a drugs ban and a loan, knowing the players child was seriously ill in a foreign country, it doesn't much matter who kicks off the selection process imo.

If Middlesbrough don't get promoted and Lambert is sacked next week (fingers crossed) ... I could well see Mr Coates asking Tony Pulis if he fancied another couple of years in the Manager's seat.
And I think Pulis would be down here quicker than Shaq's agent on the phone to Everton.

It would be the nail in the coffin for me. Loved what Pulis achieved for Stoke but that's long gone.

No you're not Paul.
You had your chance and you failed miserably.
Go.
Soon as possible.

He did a good job of managing Norwich and got them promoted then took over a Villa side in decline thanks to Randy Lerner the American businessman who in his time sold all of the clubs top players. On the face of it he did a decent job but results were patchy and he was sacked. I think he will be our manager next season, but he has a hell of job trying to shift players out on long term contracts, but that would be the case whoever is the manager. This summer is crucial and the club have got to get it right. Are they willing to take big hits on recent transfers or keep them here on big wages? None of the top earners should be with us next season in my opinion and Coates needs good advice and not from those idiots he has running the club. Above all else they are the one's to blame.

But I could imagine that a possible offer from Sir Peter would certainly wet his whistle and make him think. I'm not joking. I think it's a definite possibility. We've got to pray he gets rid of Lambert first.

Lambert is not the man for me..Hughes and him are alike in many ways and both have appalling records at the club. It needs newer thinking, a younger squad and sweeping changes at the top.

From the Times today - apologies if previously posted.....
Paul Lambert was victorious in his first match as Stoke City manager against Huddersfield Town in January but has won none of his subsequent 13 league games in charge — the worst case of flattering to deceive in top-flight history. No manager other than the Scot, whose team were doomed to relegation at the weekend, has suffered such a long barren run after winning his first match: the next worst has been Alan Curbishley’s 11-game sequence without a win with West Ham United in 2006-07, and ten matches by Jimmy Melia (with Brighton & Hove Albion in 1982-83) and Steve Harrison (with Watford in 1987-88).

My dad was listening to talksport earlier and said to me they reported that Lambert hasn't got a 2 and a half year contract and his contract expires after the swansea game and they don't know if it will be renewed. Lambert's post match interview on Saturday makes sense if what's being reported is true.

Scholes and cartwright have to be the first ones to go, lambert does not deserve to go before them. That would be a total disgrace.

Haven't read all the posts, but absolute disgraceful comments like Pulis is a pile of shite etc. He took us from League One into Prmeier League, to our first ever FA Cup final & last 16 of Europa League. He should have a stand named after him.
As for Lambert. You can't appreciate the problems he inherited with this squad of scum bags. He didn't choose these players & neither by the way did Hughes.
We're in the Championship now & need virtually a complete clear out & a team of British battlers, no more boring 'fancy flair players'

Seriously?
Even with all the caveats, ifs and buts in the world, that, right there has to be on his P45 as the reason for dismissal.
The board are already guilty as charged for sleeping at the wheel but dear me, they are about to get in the cab, ready for next season in their effin' pyjamas if they allow PL to stay.

I honestly don't believe that any manager could have picked a winning team from our squad, (available players). TP would have managed wearing a blindfold with both arms tied behind his back. And the fans would be led into the stadium in the same manner.

Neither PFL or TP should be within a hundred miles of the club. Both dinosaurs both should be consigned to history. For gods sake Stoke fans show some bloody ambition.
