Sky Sports have suffered a big blow ahead of next season after losing the TV rights to La Liga to Eleven Sports for the next three years.

Who the hell are Eleven Sports? Needless to say I won't be subscribing.
This might be how the bubble bursts. As more stuff gets poached off Sky their subscriber base reduces. This combined with increasing competition from things like Kodi reduces their revenues and ultimately the amount they'll be prepared to spend on things like the Premier League.

Thought the same myself, this could be the beginning of the end for massive buy out rights by sky. Let's face it football is living in a bubble and it can't continue the way it is forever. One day that bubbles going to burst, it's inevitable. It could leave clubs in a right mess unless they become more responsible for players transfers and wages sometime soon.

Currently they don't even broadcast in the UK and are yet to decide on what format they are going to use. It would appear they are using this as their entry over here. That Sky only bid £18m for the rights suggests that there isn't that many viewers to generate the advertising revenue. That or Sky really are skint. It will be interesting to see how this pans out - because while the Sky monopoly was unhealthy for the consumer as subscription charges were only going to go one way - breaking up the packages doesn't seem that appealing either. Currently I watch Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A games occasionally as they are part of the BT Sky packages. However if they were all hived off to different providers I wouldn't pay £10 a month to Eleven Sports for La Liga, £10 a month to someone else for Bundesliga etc - because individually it wouldn't be worth it. Premier Sports were launched a couple of years ago at a similar subscription price - I've never subscribed - but with Belgian Football and the NRL being their flagship offerings I've no intention of doing so. I've also no idea how they make any money as I don't know anyone else who subscribes either. Also interesting is that there are still two premier league broadcasting packages yet to be awarded for the 2019/20 season. I wonder of Eleven has eyes on them.

Sky would not pay through the nose for the champs league because they worked it out that the cost was more than losing revenues from subscribers.
Bar el Classico. It isn’t the best league Anyway

Sky are probably currently busy finalising a deal to broadcast the Romanian Liga 1 or French Ligue 1 or some other such tripe to entice us to subscribe.

They are taking over 'At the Races' channel. They're quickly becoming ITV Sport!

It isn’t the best league Anyway Given that from next year BT and Sky have reached an deal to sell each other's products it would suggest they have reached an accommodation. "You can have the Champs League but we'll take the bulk of the domestic game. You can have the Aviva premiership, but hands off Formula 1 etc etc" Maybe allowing a few other broadcasters to pick up a few crumbs here and there will give enough of an impression of a competitive marketplace to pave the way for the merger?

Any headline which starts with "Sky lose"
is great as far as I'm concerned, they can't go downhill fast enough for me...

The world's only Spanish man Guillem Balagué will go hungry. 😂😂😂😂 It’s funny how he’s the only person at sky that can talk about Spanish footy and transfers. How’s he built that role for himself, Jedi mind tricks?😀
