I get we need experience if we do go down, but let's use this chance to regenerate the squad with younger, hungrier players with a bit of pace... I dread the thought of Fletcher & Adam being regulars next season..

Ideally you want a blend of youth and experience so long as the experienced players are still fit enough to make a contribution, and I agree that neither Fletcher or Adam are.

Ideally we should no sign no over 30s in the summer, and limit the role Fletcher, Adam, Crouch, Grant, Cameron have (none should be regular starters, if at all)

I'll be surprised if we aren't starting next season with the likes of Pieters, Johnson, Cameron, Fletcher, Adam, Crouch getting regular game time if not starting.

I think we can definitely expect at least a new striker. Lambert has said as much and Coates - who it will be is anybody's guess - but I think we'll definitely address that area, as for the rest, you're probably right.

Johnson's out of contract, right, and Pieters looks like he is off to China (even though today he was outstanding and the undoubted man of the match in my opinion)

He also still can't pass to a Stoke player.

And I think that if (when) Lambert stays he's stupid enough to give Johnson a new deal.

Unless major investment is made, we'll end up being a Sunderland or Norwich type club. The players then the team already together as a group.

I dread the thought of Fletcher & Adam being regulars next season.. After having so much money pumped into the academy since the days of Tony and early premier league, surely we should now be reaping the rewards with young players who should now be ready to play championship football. Campbell, ngoy, Edwards, sorenson and verlinden spring to mind. We've heard the excuse they're not ready for the Premier league but are they ready for championship. If not should we question if it's been a failure and its worth persisting with?

Cameron will be great back-up, Crouch will still do a job in the division below and I'd suggest maybe the drop will see Adam at his true level as well as something different off the bench. Fletcher looks utterly shot though, fuck him off.

Has there been a firm link of Pieters to China ? People seem to mention it a lot but I wondered where it had come from and importantly what (if any) money we would be looking at getting ?

We've got plenty of experienced players who might stay that we don't have to sign anything but pace and youth in summer.

We could do worse than look at what Fulham have done. Some mature players and a good number of keen youngsters wanting to impress. Oh, yeah, they also have a manager who knows how to play attacking football and not bore the arse off everyone.

Adam, Fletcher, Crouch, Johnson, Cameron, Afellay, Diouf (sadly), Ireland and Grant can all go.
There's a clean slate to replace with athletic footballers, ideally with pace.

He didn't impress much during the 3 games he had. Butland hasn't Impressed me for the whole season, doesn't stop someone paying over 20million or him. Grant didn't get player of the season for a few good games or a few Bad, he was the best player for the whole season.

Whilst there are some knowledgeable fans on here who have pinpointed some of the better players in the championship who could help us next season the rest seem split between those who are locked in the past and think that we can be successful by re-signing people like Walters and Huth even though both are past it and have barely kicked a ball for 12 months and who think people like Crouch and Adam will suddenly regain the ability to run, Cameron the ability to actually play and Ireland the ability to play more than 8 hours in total all season!!The other camp somehow think that unproven players at Championship level who they have barely seen play such as Campbell, Verlinden and N'Goy will suddenly be transformed into world-beaters. If we don't sign 6 or 7 plsyers of the right character, athleticism and quality then next season could be embarrassing.......

We need a good spine of experience mixed with some hungry young players. Fletcher started so well but has been awful after the first month that said he could be a bit part player on the pitch but will be excellent to have around to help the youngsters. The one player I’d love to stay is Badou and if we’re going to throw a big wage at one player as a luxury it’d be him for me. We need to ask him if he’ll give us one year.
.....................Grant................... Bauer.....Ryan.......Indi.......Eric .............Badou.......New........... Ramadan......Ireland.........New ........................New.................
