Anyone who says they are looking forward to Championship football have issues with self worth. I'm just remembering the massive jump in skill & spectacle that the Premiership brought. The speed & excitement of that first home game v Villa was electric. Turning over all the giants at the Brit(something we didn't manage at the Bet365) Going to Europe, thank God I was able to go to a couple of games(Thun&Besiktas!) I couldn't give a $#!t about going to Leeds, £@#& Leeds. I want the rock&roll & glamour & the hope of progression, not regression. Anyway, I took the kids to the game last Sunday & thankfully we didn't lose. Today I'll go into town to watch the game in some pub(no alcohol(no alcohol could ease the pain))& this afternoon I'll take the kids down Bath City for some light relief. Just to give that some perspective, I met my wife at the Bath City/Stoke FA Cup game in 94. She was supporting Bath City. What will you be doing this afternoon... £@#& Leeds!

Good post & i have to agree the sense of doom & the feeling of despair of dropping down to the championship is unbearable & anybody who says they are looking forward to it is in need of medical attention. There can be nothing good about scraping around in that division with the ground half empty for half the games & we will not be considered a big club by nearly 50% of the teams in there. I am sorry but nothing good can be said about the position we are going to find ourselves in very shortly.

Anyone who says they're looking forward to it and being serious, rather than lying to themselves / being in denial / trying to save face / sulking, is an absolute cunt of the highest order. No ifs, no buts, pure unadulterated cuntism.

I'd guess that every Stoke fan is fed up of the twattings we have been taking, but that's no reason to gleefully embrace the mediocrity and anonymity of that God-forsaken shit-hole division that is populated by the most boring, wank no-mark clubs imaginable. Waiting for the end of the season, a rebuild and a re-start is one thing, but the number of posters who seem to be actually excited about the shittest division in world football is quite staggering.

This ‘looking forward to the Championship’ is utter drivel from morons who can’t remember or have forgotten all of our years trying and failing miserably to get promoted and the joy when it happened, eventually.
By their logic, what the fuck? Why not aim for the Vanarama National League North whilst we are at it?
Sure, the premiership ain't all it’s cracked up to be but it’s where it’s at and has provided us with some great moments. Whilst we have been recently crap, it’s far better getting a tonking in this league than some I remember in the ‘ChampIonship’ and ‘League 1’.

Wishing for 9th place as a realistic goal year in and year out isn't all that damn exciting if you sit down and think about it. Oooooh! Maybe we get eighth this season! Balls.

The alternative is being worse to scrap and battle with typically awful football, with no guarantee of success, to hopefully evventually get promoted... Right back to where you came from in the first place. The logic is insane. As insane as saying "I'm glad we finished 15th, because next season we can aim to get back up to ninth". It doesn't hold up at all. The promotion season of 07/08 was good because we had the exciting novelty of a fresh Premier League experience at the end of it. The next Championship season will be highly pressured to get back to where we belong, and it won't even be exciting, because we'll just be aiming to get back to what is now normal. If we fail and end up mid-table it'll be sickening, and even worse if we get relegated again. There's no excitement to be had at all. The place is hell.

There is absolutely no good in any of this. None at all. Anyone who says there is, is a dick.
We could and should have stayed up, we didn't because of the worst mismanagement of a club that I've seen since...hmmm, Sunderland, Aston Villa, errm quite a few to be honest.
But it's shit and anyone who thinks we are returning any time soon is deluded. It'll be more than a decade - at least - and that's assuming we don't go down again in fairly short order, which if we just carry on as we are with the most of the players we have, is exactly what's happening. Not having a striker doesn't work in the Championship *either*, believe it or not.
Oh, and crowds. Nobody goes. I suspect even less will go this time than when we there last time. We filled the corner in, it's unlikely to get used again now. What a cock up this is. And for no reason.
I think some fans here are in for a rude awakening very soon.

Possibly, but there has to be more than just existing for the sake of existing. It breeds complacency, which is evidenced by the past two seasons. It's obvious that making a move in the PL (and other leagues) requires money...a lot of money. Unless one plays by the necessary rules, in this case spending large sums of coin (which I'm not sure is even realistic for Stoke), is existing in the lower or mid-table of the PL ad infinitum really all that exciting? Yes, going down doesn't guarantee we'll be back up again anytime soon, but I know one thing for certain, we were never going to win any PL title being comfortable with ninth.

Don't think there's anything wrong with that.

The Championship is a fucking graveyard, I fail to see any positives in going back there. “No one knows you, No one cares” Stoke have always fluctuated, but it doesn’t mean we should accept or look for positives in relegation (there are non). Being in the Premier League has been a god send to Stoke; as said, Championship (and less) is not the same thing.

No Martin Atkinson, Mike Dean or any of the other corrupt wankers who only apply the rules to teams outside the top 7 Unless they have such a spectacularly bad performance that they are demoted to The Championship as punishment. (Not sure who is being punished there). I have seen a few Championship games refereed by Premier League referees this season and they all act as though it is beneath their dignity to be there. If you think "It's all about me" Mike Dean is bad in the Premier League he will be insufferable if we ever have the misfortune to be refereed by him at a lower level. The standard of refereeing in The Championship is mediocre at best (and that is being kind)
