Seeing as a load of this season's shower will be seeking pastures new to keep their snouts in the trough of football excess whilst they leave us to slum it in the league below (bitter, me?), we could try to keep tabs on their links to the departure gate by having them all in one place. So far, what have we heard? Butland - Liverpool Allen - West Ham Shaqiri - Everton Choupo-Moting - Newcastle Wimmer - Hannover (please God) Ramadan - Liverpool (in his dreams) Badou - Fenerbahce/Besiktas Adam - Inverness Caledonian Thistle reserves (okay, I made that one up!) We should bust a gut to keep Allen and Badou. We need more creativity, if we still had those two starting in our midfield next season I'd be a little worried.

Let's be honest we're going to lose the majority of the squad. It's fine saying coates doesn't need to sell but we've seen it so many times. Player power is a massive thing. Lets be realistic and look at the squad and prices knowing our transfer team sells cheap and isn't very good:
Keepers Butland - not a chance he'll stay. Ambitions to be England's #1, he won't be seen dead in the championship. Pickford went for £40 after a good season, £25-30 Grant - will stay and become the new #1 Haugaard - contracts up, will only renew if we panic at being unable to get a better back up as we presumably won't spend yet again.
Defenders Johnson - Lost it and out of contract, can't see many if any suitors, 12 month extension which screams panic Edwards - potential starter for us next season, will look a lot more comfortable defensively in the championship and still show ability going forward Bauer - an absolute Gem, if he's got a relegation clause he's a gonna. Hope he hasn't because we need players like him for a quick turn around. About £6-8m realistically.
Wimmer - stuck with him unless uncle Pete is prepared to take a giant hit and ship him off to Europe. £5-8m if we're lucky BMI - again would love him to stick around but simply too good for the championship, European and mid table teams will come sniffing £8m Shawcross - Hope he stays, clearly loves the club but unfortunately may move for a new challenge. Expect a Newcastle, Palace or Brighton to come in for about 5 - 10m Zouma - returning to chelsea Cameron - can see him staying or going to a relegation threatened team next year Muniesa - played his last game for us I reckon. Lower spanish side 3-5m
Pieters - Will have offers probably somewhere like Castle again, but I think he'll stay. Stafylidis - return to parent club
Wingers Shaq - Again, no chance he'll play championship football, he'll push for a move and if he doesn't get it it'll be like rodwell at sunderland, will just go missing. realistically £15m fee to somewhere like Leicester, Leipzig or everton. will be less than the £25m we know he should cost because of relegation and inconsistencies, its been a pleasure watching him play though. Choupo - Gets a lot of flack because he's seen as arnies replacement. In the unlikely event he doesn't go back to europe I think he'll be a real asset for us in the championship and I think he'll score a lot of goals. Ramadan - I honestly can't see that many suitors coming forward, but if / when they do I'd say 8-10m probably go abroad, can see him in spain or the netherlands. Can't see many premier league clubs wanting him, he hasn't torn up many trees since he got here and he's unfortunately too inconsistent. Jese - Back to PSG, I sympathise with his family situation but he clearly doesn't want to be here, PSG will loan him out to somewhere like Las Palmas or Malaga because they won't manage to shift him permanently.
Midfielders Allen - again, not a chance he'll play championship footy and if you think he will you're deluded. £12-20m to a burnley, swansea, west ham type. Might even get a bigger move to an everton. Badou - I was his biggest critic but it appears I was wrong, I still think he's too rash and undisciplined but his talent won't have gone unnoticed looking at around 10m if he's relegated. Prices are inflated in January and on top of this we don't know what the release clause states. Possibly Back to Turkey, or mid table prem. Fletch- out of contract, started great - legs have gone. He'll retire rather than face trips to Shrewsbury on a Wednesday. Adam - out of contract but i'd give him an extension, we need bite in the champ. Ireland- out of contract, formally our of favour with PL however looks good when he's come on recently. Worth 12 months? Afellay - PL really dislikes him, which is a shame because I've never seen a midfielder at stoke manage to find as much space on the ball on a consistent basis, I think he'd be a class act in the champ. Probably off back to the Netherlands. Bojan - will return from his loan and probably be forced out. Again could be useful in the championship I can see him having a similar effect to Matej Vydra, big earner though so I can see him being shipped to loosen the wage bill. Will either get one last crack in a European team that fits somewhere around midtable or he'll move to the MLS, he's still a name so I can imagine him getting offers there. Orlando City? Imbula - 10m, first offer we get to ship him back permanently to france. However I'd like him to come back into the fold. I think he could offer us a lot next year, again will push for a move though. Strikers. Crouch - either retire or stick around. Can't see any of the promoted teams wanting him they have better options. Could be useful next year at a level closer to him now. Diouf - I'd like to see him in the championship, but he misses too many chances and will probably move for around £5m, Palace or equivalent Berahino - Stuck with this one unless we release him, think he'd bang goals in though in the champ. Campbell - will be first team next year, however this could still be a league too high. Destined for big things but it's about timing. Luckily has a long deal. Telford - will be released on a free
Expect youngsters to come in - Sweeney, Souttar, Verlinden (if he doesn't leave), Ngoy, possibly even Jarvis and Shenton if we're desperate. Possible return for some of the old guard? - Walters, Whelan, Shotton? We need grafters and they love our club. I'm hoping it doesn't come to it and we stay up but we really do need a miracle.

Of the players who I would actually want to keep Shaq,Butland and Allen will definitely go. I bet Badou must have a reasonably priced relegation release clause as well and must be attracting some attention. That then leaves the question of Bauer and whether he has a release clause. Indi and Ryan would be an okay pairing at Championship level but as for the rest we won't be able to give them away but they certainly aren't anywhere near good enough to help us get promoted or even established in the Championship. But Coates thinks the process that has assembled this shower of shit is good enough! If you can take a driving licence off an old person because they have dementia can you apply the same rules and take a football club from one?

Cameron’s off already sold his house 50% wage cut if when we go down Is anyone sure we have an automatic 50% reduction clause? Can anyone see any of the better players having the decency or sense of loyalty to say they want to stay and make amends in the Championship? Anyway, we will know soon enough, when we implode tomorrow and are relegated at 4:55 pm.

If we only end up losing Butland and Shaqiri then that will be a decent window for us.
Id imagine though, once one goes it will be like a domino effect as no doubt rival clubs are aware as to how pathetic we are in selling players for good fees.

Anyway, we will know soon enough, when we implode tomorrow and are relegated at 4:55 pm. I don’t know about anyone else, but from what I was told about Camerons contract I would of thought they are in my place with most players For the sake of argument and with no evidence to the contrary, let's say you're right about Cameron's sontract. However, the fact that he has a 50% off salary relegation clause does not automatically mean he's off. Who would want him? He will be 33 in July. Despite being a good servant to us he's been struck with injuries over the last two seasons. That and the fact that he's not very good mean he's not played much football for 2 years. He will be on relatively (compared to the world outside the Premier League bubble) high wages. Even 50% of that would be higher than most clubs would be prepared to pay for a journeyman player who doesn't really know himself what his best position is. Probably his best/only option would be to move back to The States but all the above factors might mean there is a very small queue lining up for his services. I may be way off the mark of course and if I am then good luck to the bloke but either way we need younger and hungrier players than Geoff and the rest of the Dad's Army if we want to compete in the Championship.

It used to be good fun pissing in the wind. We used to stand on the bridge pissing into the brook seeing how much further we could piss wind assisted than without. I know it's hardly scientific but at 7 we felt like we were Darwin. Mind I've heard old Darwin could piss a mighty long way.

Let's return to this thread once the dust has settled and the new season has started, whichever Division we're in!!! We're all just pissing in the wind at the moment. Once the new season has started?!??!? Then it would not be rumours, but fact, as to which players have left!! It is strange how different folk on here view it - some think only Shaq and Jack will go, whilst others think they will be like rats leaving a sinking ship and we will be left with only the bomb squad, the wrinklies and a few kiddies. The truth is probably somewhere in between.

I think there may well be a few surprises in term of the fees we get for selling our best players, remember it's the same individual who sells cheap and buys expensive, fails to negotiate sell on clauses and hands out five year contracts like confetti. I can see Joe Allen going to Wolves, they need a bit of Prem experience and it's just up the road from his Chicken sanctuary in Eccleshall. I doubt he has any great desire to return to the backwater that is Swansea. - I have it on good authority that the Allen "chicken sanctuary" is up for sale. Make of that what you will... In Narberth? Could mean he's moving abroad then. Can you get passports for Rhode Island Reds?

I'm sure our crack transfer team have everything in hand by now anyway Surely they'll know exactly who'll be staying, who'll be leaving and a list of targets drawn up for whichever league we're in. Yeah, right How would they know who's going unless we've had bids?

Mail reported last weekend Allen and butland off West Ham Yes, they also said for a combined 40 million. Clearly a story you can trust........ They might get just Butland for 40 million We'll be lucky to get £5m for Butland and maybe £4m for Allen I reckon.

The whole thing depresses me though, and while the last rites are about to be performed, the patient is still breathing. All I'll say is that if we don't reinvest any money we get for outgoing players in direct replacements and a couple of others perhaps and two loans, then someone needs shooting. So, in effect, we're looking at seven new faces, with maybe five of them featuring in the First XI.

I'm racking my brains trying to think of any club that is going to offer over 20 million for shaq, butland or allen and match their wages. I honestly don't think they are very highly rated. I don't think all of those three will be gone. I can see us losing badou as he is clearly a top player, bauer as lambert obviously doesn't like him. We will probably lose choupo. I hope we keep most of the players and just tweak things in attack and ideally bring in a proper manager.

That number is probably about right, I would suggest - goalkeeper, two central midfielders, right winger, attacking midfielder and two forwards. That assumes the defence will stay as is, but that hinges on whether there are any departures out of the current back four (including Bauer, who is bizarrely being played totally out of position by McPulis).
