I want a high powered water pistol to shoot starlings off bird feeders. Googled it, but would prefer advice from any cowboys and girls off here please.

We've got the same problem with magpies in our garden. There are about 8 of the sods that have recently arrived in our road and they seem to have targeted the bird feeders in our back garden. Even our cat won't chase them off and steers well clear of them.

Make sure you open the window before you shoot at them.

Laser pen. I've still got the one from work. Does a decent job on the fat bastard pigeons. One quick glance and they're off like a stabbed rat.

Any advice on buying one? Call me a snowflake, but wilfully pointing a laser pen into the eyes of animals is indefensible cruelty.

No Richie, You may have a point. I was wondering how they work. Wasn't sure. Would they do damage? Would their seeing the light be enough to scare them off. As it is when I get to the door/ window and make a noise ( I'm talking squirrels here), a staring match goes on.

Any advice on buying one? I didn't buy mine. It came as a teaching aid for work presentations. It came with some clever attachments that turned the beam into some spectacular light shows. Only ever used inside. I did try bringing down a plane over Biddulph while it was at 35,000 feet but it was crap. 😊 PS. Never tried it on a squirrel. But seriously one very very quick flash and the pigeons clear off darned quick.

A pressure cleaner with the nozzle on 'Jet' is the most efficient way.
The bastards will also benefit from a serious wash and de- feathering as they are shot into your neighbours bbq.
You are welcome.

Catapult? Used to love mine as a kid Still, I did get one, but didn't actually use it! I think I'd be more accurate with a water pistol or one of these laser pens

Catapult? Used to love mine as a kid Still, I did get one, but didn't actually use it! I think I'd be more accurate with a water pistol or one of these laser pens In my youth myself and a mate went patrolling the fields around the village where he lived with our catapults trying to hit anything that moved. We couldn't even hit stuff that didn't move!. It was still good fun though. We were probably more at risk of getting done for trespassing and being shot by various farmers.

Miss the good old days with my super soaker in hand.
I used to put fairy liquid in there for that extra punch.

I only get small garden birds on mine but the pigeons are on the ground waiting for scraps to drop.
I get the dog to chase them off.
