Peter Coates is a passionate committed Stoke fan who is hurting as much as any of us about Stoke's predicament. I know that as a FACT. He and his family also committed in excess of £100m to give fans like me the best 10 years in of being a Stoke fan ( I am in my mid 50s ) .
Mistakes have been made ( we all agree on what they are ) and i accept that maybe this should be admitted.
However,
1. the vilification being suggested on here is pathetic , cruel and disgusting ( I hope that even if a number of fans on here are happy to spout this crap the vast majority respect what this man has done for our club and treat him with the respect he deserves ).
2. if anybody really believe that the problems we face will be better by alienating the Coates family they are idiots and do not have the clubs interest at heart .
I bleed Stoke and hope we can calm down and at least give ourselves a chance.

Plenty of us do, this relegation is self inflicted !, Coates has presided over it he is ultimately the man in charge he has allowed it to happen, who do you apportion the blame to ?

Peter Coates is the heartbeat of the club. He is not the issue.
Lambert, Cartwright and Scholes are the issues. Peter needs to acknowledge that.

Plenty of us do, this relegation is self inflicted !, Coates has presided over it he is ultimately the man in charge he has allowed it to happen, who do you apportion the blame to ? Coates , as the leader , has to accept a portion of the blame - I totally agree . A few others to put into the mix as well . My point, however , notwithstanding your valid comment , is that this is no reason to vilify him , suggest that somehow all he care about is money etc etc etc because this is plainly wrong. I will reiterate that he cares as much as anybody and more than most and we will be better with his family on board rather than not . I AM 99 PER CENT CERTAIN ON THIS LATTER POINT .

They did not need the association but interesting point nonetheless . Do you really think that they will not be the main advertisers on Sky Sports purely because we are not in the Premiership ?

You are still a moaning negative tosspot who never misses an opportunity to whinge. Since you must know giving your extensive knowledge of the financial acumen of the Coates family please give us an insight into their financial transactions blow by blow in all matters relating to th club. I think the OP hit the nail on the head in point 2 when thinking of you. Ten years ago I would have happily taken the one season we all thought we would get in the premiership. Thanks to the Coates family I’ve had ten seasons; something I never thought possible when watching us lose to the likes of Telford, Nuneaton etc. over the years. This is my 50th year of watching my beloved Potters and whilst relegation hurts there is always hope for next season. That’s what makes me a Stoke supporter and not a glory hunter.

I have no axe to grind . i am a decent bloke like the majority on here and simply believe that (a) it is wrong to abuse , humiliate , vilify a man who has given then club so much ; and (b) passionately care about our future and dont want is to alienate a family that are Stoke through and through and can help us .

There lies the issue (Lambert excepted he’s been left a crock of shite by his predecessor) Competent people spend budgets wisely and not fritter it away on Imbula Wimmer Sideboard etc.

The CEO for negotiating the contracts of these duds. The Technical director for (presumably) identifying the duds Or the former manager who presumably said he wanted them?

I also anted to separate the conversation about decisions that have been made and , I agree , may have been wrong from the massive contribution he has made to the Club and the potential disaster of alienating the family ?
