Bring back St Cuthbert's Day

St George's Day should definitely be celebrated more rather than just an afterthought or not even mentioned in most places.
It should be a Bank Holiday in England IMO.

I'm spending it in an old familiar English way, I'm invading Wales today Day off and off to Anglesey to drop a lad off, go for a run by the seaside and a spot of peaceful lunch somewhere by myself

No but a rose might smell sweet V good that. Did you mean the Shakespeare quote, with it being his birthday... I had a vague memory from when they kept Trying to drum Shakespeare into me a school with moderate success What’s in a name ? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet Not my favourite play by far probably my favourite dire straits song The memory is quite amazing at times the way it recalls vague scrapes of information often at random times

St George has to be the most rubbish national icon going.
A Turk who never came here who didn't slay a dragon.
He's the patron saint of quite a few other places as well mind.
We are short of bank holidays. The rest of Europe all have more. Trafalgar Day would be my choice.

I think trafalgar day would be a good start as that would nicely break up the long haul between August and Christmas And maybe replace mayday with sovereignty day on the nearest Monday to 23 rd of June

I don't think St George's, St Patrick's or any of them should be public holidays really. They're a celebration of pretty much absolutely nothing.

Apparently Labour want to introduce 4 more bank holidays and an English St Georges Day on 23rd April is to be one of them.
I'm not a Corbyn fan but that is good news. Day off.
